who's the soloist if I may ask the person who plays the trumpet soloist 😭😭😭 the thing is that I was there for that performance but during the day cause I'm in the Heights High School Band from Houston TX Known as the Heights Bulldog Band, and we were there for the US Bands during the day, we got 6th place and then left early. I play the Flute in the woodwinds section of the Band. I'm a sophomore, but the trumpet soloist blew my entire mind including my directors and our trumpet soloist. The amount of practice it must have taken to make that show, like when is yall's band camp 😭😭Like honestly yall's trumpet soloist has to be the best trumpet soloist I have ever heard like if I'm being brutally honest with you. The fact the soloist was in tuned and kept the notes in tunes and even tonguing the notes was crazy, like I could hear the one part the trumpet soloist over and over. It's so beautiful !!! Congrats on getting 1st place I already knew that yall were going to get 1st Place I had a feeling yall would. So CONGRATS !!!! We will see yall at EDNA !!!!!!

Hello! Sorry to bug, but do you happen to have the recording of the sub-varsity part of the concert? I'm curious to see how my group (symphony) sounded. Thanks! :D

Texas Tech is far enough away from most of the student’s home town that it keeps them on campus a lot of the school year. But I’ve also heard that is one of the things that makes Tech unique In the sense of being such a close knit campus. Some may think that the students get trapped there because of the long distance from home, but that could be the very reason why they consider Tech to actually be their home. In a lot of ways that may be the best scenario for emotional growth and maturity to take place. Plus it probably weans the parents away from their kids, especially the “hovering” type.

I lived 5 years on campus. The school was 120 miles from home. I could have attended UT or A&M in a heartbeat. My parents, being a little protective, thought I was less likely to get lost in the crowd. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in Comp Science. I earned a MS in Comp Science from Purdue University. Architecturally, Texas Tech has a very nice campus.

I love this bands musicality. They play in tune and when it needs to be melodic it’s very smooth and then when it needs to be staccato it is very staccato. Very nice performance. My one critique is how the band entered the field. They just kind of meandered out there like lost children. They should have the field set up and March to starting positions to some sort of cadence.
