floch is easily my favorite side character, because hes a child of erwins last moments, he was a coward but stll rode in face of certain death, lived an was reborn into a fighter, not only was that one of erwins most bad ass moments, it constantly lves on through him for better or worse..

Floch might have had good intentions but his decisions were kinda dumb and irrational. He orders rookies to beat an instructor for no reason. He shot and imprisoned who helped his people for no reason. He purposefully got in the way for a plan that could've led to peace, and would've still protected Paradis even if that peace failed. He titanized his own superiors for no reason, weakening and destabilizing paradis's military He purposefully gunned downed innocent civilians. He continues to do the same horrible things to others that were done to him, failing to learn anything from how his people were treated. He says he wants to save Eldia and Paradis, but repeatedly murders Eldians and aids throws its armed forces into chaos; people who are trying to help paradis. Like you're literally making it easier for enemy nations to fuck paradis over. Definitely not an Erwin successor and there never will be.

True successor of Erwin,so sucessful that the Jaegerists were all getting killed in Shiganshina while being unable to do any kind of counter attack.There's no real successor of Erwin.

Floch was a villain. He may not have started out that way, but he ultimately became the very thing he was trying to destroy.
@pierredelapotterie59965 ай бұрын
> he ultimately became the very thing he was trying to destroy No, he was willing to face Mikasa because he judged Erwin's life more beneficial to humanity than Armin's life, and he also fought for Eren because he judged him capable to save the Eldian in the island. He always fought for what he believed to be right thing to do to accomplish the objectives he had.
@SBaby5 ай бұрын
@@pierredelapotterie5996 The problem is that Eren was ultimately wrong. There's an old saying. A hero will sacrifice you to save the world. A villain will sacrifice the world to save you. I hate this saying, because I think a true hero doesn't need to sacrifice anyone else because they are enough. But it's not far from the truth. It is always more heroic to put the needs of the many ahead of the needs of the few. But Floch was doing the exact opposite, being trapped in the past and not able to accept that the era of the Titan was coming to an end and that Eldians were something that was going to inevitably go extinct, so he was willing to throw away the world in order to prevent that. And in doing so, he who was once a hero became a villain.
@pierredelapotterie59965 ай бұрын
@SBaby It's not even a matter of heroes or villains, but people making decisions according to their belief. Floch care more about Eldians within the island and hate every people outside the island, whom he thought must hate their kind and want their destructions for being devils that preyed on them in the past. In that regards he's not wrong, people outside fear their kind as human eating titans, I'm sure you remember how Marleyan treat Eldians living alongside them and the stories they say about devils of the island, right? He choose his people over people outside, he even choose to kill some formers comrades because they were on the way of saving the Eldians in the island. He is not a "hero" or "villain", he is a soldier that at first fighting for the remaining humanity threatened by titans, and then a soldier fighting for his people against outside enemies (or who he deem traitors I'm sure, those who prefer not to destroy the enemies)
@SBaby5 ай бұрын
@@pierredelapotterie5996 To use the expression, 'You die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain'. Floch was willing to throw away the world in order to save the Eldians. This is what made him a villain in this story. Bear in mind that many villains in fiction believe they're doing the right thing. But that doesn't make them any less of a villain.
@pierredelapotterie59965 ай бұрын
I still disagree the framing of hero & villain, that's not how the author wrote his story IMO. Put Floch in his context; Eren went ahead and visited Marleyan city, and saw a little bit of the life there, the people, bit like Reiner & others. Eren met with Reiner and both listened Tybur's speech, and the declaration of war to Eldians in the island. Who else heard that? Floch, as he was in the same city as Eren transformed and attacked, we saw him later in the aircraft. Floch heard the world want to eradicate him and his people, loud and clear. His people isn't that many, being basically controlled by the titans for years. And now all sort of people that outnumber them surely want to invade them for the sole purpose of wiping them out. All these people don't care about them, they don't care they are committing this slaughter. Self defense is natural action, and in face of such extreme circumstance where the entire world is your enemy, the Rumbling seem the only viable option and of course, if the world don't mind wiping the island Eldians, then he won't have an issue to do the opposite and wiping the world and save his people. Floch isn't some one dimensional villain, doing evil things because he is evil. He is a person with belief and desire, and his desire is to save his people. There is a logic in his decisions. You may not agree with his decisions, his rational, but he is no villain, just a person doing his best in his circumstances.

Can't relate Floch but can't blame him too. He and all of his friends died like nothing. People judge themselves with their desires but judge others with their actions.

That’s fair. His unbridled conviction to strive toward his goals is his most admirable trait even alongside his moral dubiousness. It’s sad he got done so dirty by Eren who decided to commit genocide but then stop with just enough people alive to retaliate. It is literally the worst outcome where nobody wins. I really wish they could have made the ending more satisfying and make it actually make sense in any capacity
