I feel like this is less of a video about training or even rowing, than it is about athlete and coach psychology.

How come a senior rowing coach wasn't aware of the head race format? We've been running head races here in the UK for over 100 years. The Head of the River Race in London is world famous and attracts an international entry, including national eights...

It’s crazy that Steve Gladstone is ~80/81 years old here and is spry and seems 65 at most. Kinda blew my mind after seeing this that he was born in 1941

Great filming and production--and what a wonderful platform for boosting sports that reek of social inequality. This is on your backs.

This documentary is very clearly not intended to represent your opinion. I hope you understand that this was created to share the knowledge, passion, and skills of those who excel in the sport. And to give a glimpse of their process to achieve their success. I also hope you find a more positive outlook on our sport and please join a local rowing club for more insight. Many athletes and coaches at legitimate rowing clubs across the USA have always and continue to open their doors to those who are willing to learn. I hope this helps and thank you for watching.

Again, these documentaries are made based on those who want to share their story through my lens. I don’t believe it was ever stated that this program or any others are superior to one another. This is simply sharing the craft of each program and expose different styles in coaching, training, etc. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching

Loved the segment on the erg shown here. Splits on the erg aren't the same as strokes on the water, but few things in life are as individually meritocratic as the ergometer. This seems to be a broader portrait of the sport of rowing itself than your Harvard or Yale Crew docs--which were as much portraits of the coaches as anything. I dig that each of your rowing documentaries has a different angle in addition to a different setting.

I wish this one had the additional length of your Yale Crew doc. I feel like there's more story for the boathouse to tell, and the tanks, and the stadium, and the river. I think, as much as anything, I just want "more" because what's here has provided a rare visit back to my own halcyon days trekking to and from Newell. Great job.

This is just extraordinary. I got here by way of your Harvard Crew documentary--I rowed with the H '08 crew--but this one somehow better captures the experience I had as an oarsman. If you're taking requests, I'd love if you made a documentary about the Harvard/Yale race. You had some beautiful footage of Gale's Ferry in here but it got little mention, and training at Red Top/Gales Ferry during that week or two is an experience out of another time.

When I rowed at Yale, our coaches, who were hardworking and dedicated and better than I deserved, were jealous of Steve. Nick, your work of art underscores that they should have been learning from him. Joel was was an awesome coxswain and has done an unbelievable job taking over from the wonderful Tom Taft
