Hi. In our company we got network build with many Moxa switches with Turbo RIng v2 enable. But we have a problem with our network. The "Master" is not set manually but is selected automatically. Therefore, the "Master" sets itself on the switch with the lowest MAC address, which is correct. The problem is that the link is not set to blocked on the switch that is the master, but on a completely different switch. So the entire network is not in a healthy status, just a broken one. Do you have any ideas why this is happening?

In your example, you are using PT-G7728 for PRP Ring A, My question, can we use PT-7728 instead PT-G7728. how is the PTP complience on those 2 type switch. are both type are PTP complience switch.?. Thanks in advance for your respond

Hi @setiawanadi4388, thanks for reaching out. Only PT-7728-PTP models within the PT-7728 range support PRP/HSR when equipped with PM-7200-4GTX-PHR-PTP or PM-7200-4GSFP-PHR-PTP modules, and both PT-7728-PTP and PT-G7728 support IEEE 1588 hardware-based PTP.

Hi, just to enquiry my workplace having power shutdown on the complex after power resumed and turned ON, the MOXA switch unable to connect to devices, no error indication, power led is lit up and ports lit up when insert network cable but blinking not consistent, any advice on this? After replacing new one all back to normal, anyway, to check on the faulty set?

You may want to consider using any fast ping tool that has resolution of 1ms to measure recovery time. Why a non-hsr device must use a redbox? Why it cant be connected to a hrs switch (like the others non hsr devices)?

Hi @stringsandhamers, thanks for reaching out. Standard Ethernet devices can’t be connected directly to HSR ring because HSR modifies the frame and it can’t be processed correctly by a non-HSR node. To connect Singly Attached Nodes to HSR ring a Rebox or HSR switch should be used. HSR switch is essentially a combination of a switch and Redbox in a single unit, so from IEC standard point of view HSR switch is a multiport Rebox. The terms Redbox and HSR switch sometimes could be used interchangeably. Very interesting some great outside the tunnel box there. I still say compaction compression of the soil at least in soft rock boring would be the fastest as it eliminates extraction & potentially creates it's own liner. We have tried to configure (MOXA-UC-8410) switch (fix the serial setting RS-485 2W) by linux command but can't save the program.However, provided Moxa switch serial number is TAIDB1080450.In addition we can't browse IP by browser like existing one.Thanks for your support. Am I right to assume, If I have two slave Modbus device running on RTU and one running using TCP and I can't access them both at the same time from same MGate ? I need 2 MGATE?

Unfortunately, for the protocol conversion to Modbus you must choose Modbus RTU OR Modbus TCP since it is not capable of doing both at the exact same time. You would need to use two MGate 5217’s in order to convert from BACnet to Modbus RTU and BACnet to Modbus TCP. Can An existing Modbus Points list be added instead instead of adding each Modbus point individually? Would It need to be in a specific CSV format?

The MGate 5217 provides Modbus Configuration Import/Export feature. On a large scale, you may connect lots of Modbus devices, which have to configure lots of Modbus commands to get data. The MGate provides the Master Configuration Import/Export feature, which helps you easily edit massive Modbus commands through Excel to save configuration time. To get the template, just click Export to download the comma-separated values (CSV) file on your computer. The MGate MB3180 is a transparent gateway, it will convert any data (read or write) between Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII and Modbus TCP.

The MGate 5103 Supports RS-485 2-wire serial interface. With RS-485 2-wire, you can have up to 31 Modbus RTU serial slave devices connected on the same bus. Furthermore, you can configure the MGate 5103 to send up to 128 different Modbus commands to those serial Modbus Slave Devices.
