Well, there is way less stuff in the box. The price should reflect the missing disk drive which alone costs 120€. There is also no stand included anymore. So the video basically compares apples to oranges. Also inflation is just the symptom of the actual problem: corporate greed. Prices are rising and inflation is calculated from those prices, not the other way around so this argument also does not hold. Compatibility to PS1 and 2 should be cheap. If my SteamDeck can emulate these games why not the PS5 Pro? All arguments are just HARD coping lmao

The price difference isn’t magic, it’s greed. It’s the fact that they can charge however much they want because a bunch of people will buy it anyway. In a month or three Microsoft is going to announce a series X+ or whatever and guess what- it’s gonna be the same story. This was exactly what I was thinking when people were freaking out about the price, just inflation alone almost matches the price. People also need to understand this is a luxury item, the base model is still there. Computers are expensive and consoles are often sold at a loss as well.

If that is the "correct" price, then the "correct" move is to _not release it yet_ Let me put this into perspective; here in the UK, we paid £450 for the PS5. They are charging £700 for the PS5 pro. Thats _more than 50%_ increase You see the issue, surely.

It doesn't have the disk drive, so it should be compared to the ps5 digital version. That cost 450usd, and the pro costs 250 more. That's 55% more. Where the ps4 vs. ps4 Pro was 33% more expensive. If it came with the disk drive, then it would only be 200usd more, and that would be 40% more expensive over the base Model. That would be a lot more reasonable and closer to the original ps4 pro

Why are you multiplying video game inflation by market inflation? You're saying consoles experienced exponential inflation? Why? And even when you do pretend that the PS5 pro is susceptible to two different inflations at once it's still not even close to its current asking price. People yet to learn the difference between nominal price and real value. Look at gold copper silver ,. 2019 to 2024 they doubled. Meaning our money lost half of its buying power. Sony doesnt pay TSMC and other suppliers monopoly money... costs really increase... dollar weakened by too much printing... Same for euro and pretty much all others... And ps3 era dollar was very strong... that 500 usd is like worth of 1000 usd now Bill of materials for ps4 pro and 5 pro sre different too. Ps4 pro used max 150w. Your points... hmmm...so here is a long winded rebuttal... Most ppl would probably say you don't add inflation then add 17% more because 'games increased in price by 17%'. The price increases of the market and the price increases of the video game industry are not independent to each other, they exist in the same market. Games increased from $59 -> $69 that is the inflation. You don't add inflation then add another 17% for no reason. Even if it were somehow true for the games due to developing costs and yadda yadda, that still would not apply to hardware. The point that you come up with that gamers don't use the drive (due to ~80% of game sales being digital) is weak. Then subtract $50, $80, or $100 (whichever you think is fair) from the PS5 pro's price since it doesn't include one. The price is not justified because ppl don't use the drive anymore 'so take it away but keep the price the same'. *The $50, $80, and $100 are the differences in MSRP price between PS5 digital and PS5 with disc drive in various configurations in the past. Sony doesn't include the drive for a couple reasons. Yes, I'm sure it's partially true that 80% of ppl buy digital, but the other is that Sony wants you to buy digital and this is one way they push the industry in that direction. They don't need to include the disk drive, margins are larger on digital games because they don't have to package and ship the game to stores, where the stores also then take a cut of the profits, and digital games are much harder if not impossible to resell on the used market, killing the used market for games, which again benefits Sony's bottom line. TL;DR you're making things way more complicated than it is. You take a price in 2016 you just add the inflation. That's it. The PS5 pro's price is very high even inflation adjusted, only lower than the PS3 at launch. And if you recall, that system undersold the Xbox 360 until they brought the price down later in the PS3's cycle. I agree with you though. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Vote with your wallet. My guess is Sony is experimenting with price hikes and seeing if consumers will go for it. They can always offer promotions and such to adjust the price or throw in digital games or other goodies to 'sweeten the deal' as they see it necessary. They might also have more margin room to offer bigger discounts for the Christmas season and black friday or something. Curious how this'll develop...

Hi, the price is quite high, but it is quality and instant gaming, where I can immediately play my favorite games right out of the box. Yes, I do not agree with the price because of the DVD mechanics, to support the purchase of expensive games on the PS store. Otherwise, you cannot compare the prices with the older PS4 Pro. PS4 Pro was released in 2016, I think, and if I add inflation, I have 531USD from 400USD today. The difference today would be $168 versus the PS5 Pro. Those who are hating are either kids or just straight up broke. You dont even have to do the math to understand the price. Just common sense. The selling point of the ps5 is a high fps and graphics with smooth ray tracing performance. If you compare this the PC equivalent you're gonna need at least a sub $500 RTX 3080, not even including the other parts yet. You'd easily go past $1.2k to complete your entire PC setup. Adding to that you're stuck with a 1440p monitor for optimal performance. With the Ps5 pro, it's all straight gaming out of the box and you can play on your 4K tv without worry. No need to configure with all the hassle upscaling settings and other issues.
