Looks horrible om pcsx2 even upscaled. There's no substitute for old consoles. Crt will always be the best place to play old games. Its just dawned on me that the lighting effects get lost a bit on lcd with pcsx2. These games were made with that crt blur in mind.

Yeah, CRT with original hardware is absolutely the best experience for PS2. And I really loved that little Trinitron.

the visuals may look good technically but, not contextually... those environmants could literally be in the US why is it "germany", when it doesn't even look like it... the characters too...

Not sure I agree about the environments in terms of architecture, but it was weird that all the graffiti was in English (that I noticed anyway), and no one in the game spoke German or had a German accent. The articles you find are in German though, they're just translated for you by Anita. I think the characters are fine. Anita and Amelie are both suitably European names, and it was stated in the articles that there was a strong Japanese influence in the city--so we can presume that's why Maya was there.

Great review! I haven't played it, but from what I've seen I agree that they just really missed the mark in a few key areas. I really liked your take on how powerful the game could have been for a lot of people, as a sort of free passion project. As is, feels like a cash grab that didn't... grab your cash?

More realistic, more easy on the eyes. CRT screen was how it was meant to be pre-2008. Another thing to all future KZbin uploaders, please don't remove the scanlines from older games

best way to play this game hands down. The speakers on a old sony crt especially help with the atmosphere, modern tvs dont compare

Damn, even on CRT we can see that color dithering LOL. The game looked a lot scary when I played it on an emulator, but after this video I'm gonna have to play it on my old Phillips TV.

Yeah can confirm even on CRT and using composite video you can still see the dithering, although it stands out far less than on LCD so still better. I'm still not sure what the best way to play it is, not 100% sold on CRT tbh, but maybe I need a bigger screen..

This is so amazing and the perfect way to play the classics on crt tv. I ordered one not too long what compenent cables will I need the red, white, and yellow okay to use? It has the wite and yellow in the front I believe. Im so excited to relive the classics the way they're supposed to be played!

If it has only red/white and yellow then you’ll need composite cables, which are the standard ones for PS2. Enjoy!

Thanks! The PS2 is just running via composite, and it was recorded with an iPhone 11. I didn't do anything fancy, just hit record. I will say this TV films better than some other CRTs I've tried.

Absolutely! If you like small curved-tube consumer CRTs it's hard to beat. Hell, I even put it against my friend's PVMs and we both preferred the picture over them.
