I don't think that breakout harness is going to help you without Cat E T. and thats the problem. I've contacted a Cat dealer I had repair my Cat engine twice about getting a Cat E.T. with no returned phone calls as well as calling the National Caterpiller H.Q.. My local Cat dealer that had 4 locations statewide stopped working on yrucks, busses and RVs in 2024 so I wanted to get Cat E.T. so I might have a chance of diagnosing and repairing our RV with a Cat engine, but it's not looking good. I would love to find a H.D. Truck Scanner that would work with a 2003, 3126E Cat. if anyone knows of some.

To see if the unit runs or not you don’t need the cat et, you will set a lot of codes but it will let you know if the ecm is working or not. Autel maybe has something that can work on the ole 3126

Hi mate do you have the full video to this because I can’t only find this short clip and it’s not really clear just exactly what it is you’re doing? You’re saying “this right here, this right here…” but not explaining what you’ve actually disconnected to test the contactor? Thanks
@sonofmontezuma3732Күн бұрын
Just did a short on the same concept minus the load pro, just went old school. With a meter from battery positive to the end of the positive cable and show the drop under load
@GatesheadEddieКүн бұрын
Hi man, thanks for reply Yeah but what I’m trying to get my head around is how you read the voltage drop on the circuit using the load pro? I’ve just bought one and first thing it says is you must disconnect the load? What load did you disconnect in the circuit to read the drop? I didn’t think the line contactor would pull in with anything disconnected and that it would of thrown up an error code so I’m just curious as to how you managed to disconnect the load, get the line contactor to pull in and yet still read a voltage drop with the load pro? I’m just trying to get used to using the load pro as it’s new to me Thanks again
@sonofmontezuma3732Күн бұрын
@GatesheadEddie well electric is difficult to teach due to its physics not mechanical. Dan Sullivan the creator of the tool use to have a ton of videos up on you tube. For example a light bulb you test the power at the connector with the bulb removed, when you press the button the tool loads the circuit,if you have an issue it we’ll show up as a drop of voltage when you press the button
@GatesheadEddieКүн бұрын
Yeah I understand the concept and how it works, what I can’t understand is how your test on this Crown Sc5200 could have saved the customer $$$$$’s by not replacing components? I’m not exactly sure what it is your doing or what your proving and I work on these trucks day in day out so I just want to understand how the load pro test in this particular example works and saves time/money? I know how to use it, but it’s just this example that’s all? You’re loading up the circuit and doing a drop test but to what? What load did you disconnect in order to get the reading that you’re getting because the minute you disconnect any component on these trucks then the line contactor would bail out and you’ll no longer be able to apply a load to a hot circuit? It’s almost as though you’re just reading a discharging capacitor from one of the modules as opposed to applying a load to the circuit, or am I missing something blatantly obvious here? Thanks
@sonofmontezuma3732Күн бұрын
@GatesheadEddie well I point back to the first statement I made. Electricity is physics not mechanical. Dare I say as a seasoned tech I believe that putting together all mechanical fields in the hat, heavy equipment, marine, automotive, big truck, industrial/ stand alone power units generators & pumps plus fork lifts. My guess 85% of people have zero clue on ghost voltage or wiring repairs. Crown uses extremely high dollar components. Access modules, up to 6 in some units plus the controls and electric motors. Seem a guy go threw 3 modules hand controls, switches etc ( freezer unit) only for it to be corrosion in the wiring. Hence voltage drop. Crowns are great units as are any other brand if maintained by good technicians.

The shine is the next clue. 3. The heavy dark color on the porcelain shows us were the exhaust leaks are. Etc.etc. Seening how we are In 2024 and 99.5 of techs don’t test ignition with oscilloscope much less understand how to interpret the sensor wave forms on the scanner. But I digress.

This is pretty much everywhere dude. Let me explain what happened in the late '80's, early '90's. Before that, the manufacturers would warranty the tools to the companies (stores) with statement credits when the manufacturer got the tool/part back. It became cost prohibitive transporting all of the "defective" product, so the manufacturers changed the way defects got handled. The first change was that instead of sending the stuff back to them, the manufactures went off of their industry defect rate, which for the sake of this discussion we will use 10%. They and the store agree on a 10% defect rate, and the manufacturer would just give 10% off of the cost of the product to allot for 10% of the product needing warrantied, and require the store destroy/dispose of the defective product. That is why the stores want to see that you purchased it from them. If you bought it at Autozone and replaced it at Advance, Advance is losing the full price of that product. That is why they want to make sure you bought it from there. Now with house brand parts and house brand items, let's use a rotor for example. All house brand rotors (Duralast, Wearever, etc.) come from the exact same Chinese factory. The price is agreed upon, and the company (Advance, Autozone, etc.) handles the warranty in house. Again, they want to only warranty the products that they sell, because they get no credit for any defects that come back. Hope this helps you understand. Further, it is ALWAYS a good idea to keep receipts for everything. I just warrantied a lifetime starter from advance from 2018 that I had the receipt for. I was in and out in a minute.

@@sonofmontezuma3732 Bully for Craftsman being the exception to the rule and still paying for returns from retailers (although the quality of Craftsman products is no longer even comparable to what it was so they can have the money to do it.) The man above told you 100% truth about how the system works and all you can say is "but Muh Craftsman." Meanwhile, every modern Craftsman item I have is in the Drawer of Shame where the things I never should have bought collect dust awaiting some destructive purpose.
