I want to sincerely apologize for the background pulse in the latter half of the review. Rest assured, that isn't the way I wanted to do this. This was one of the most frustrating editing experiences I have had so far with KZbin. I got Copyright blocked a mind-boggling 20+ times in trying to get this done. For whatever reason, KZbin found a different section it didn't like every time I went to publish it. Long story short, the pulsing background was the only solution I could think of after having recut and edited this more times than I want to count. I will try and work out what the problem was before I get to the Deadpool 2 review.

yeah, that's been part of the Deadpool thing on some level with all the films, but this one cranked that up by a considerable amount.

The must-have nature of Kylie Jenner lipgloss notwithstanding, I think the point about cost still stands. Even adjusted for inflation, a $4.50 ticket in 1997 should be around $9 today. As you say, instead it seems to be $14-20. Teenage or early twenties couples might be able to slam that down on the counter without much thought, but people with families, three kids and a salary that hasn’t really increased in real terms since 2008? No way are they gonna throw down over $100 plus popcorn for their family in a way they might be able to if the total cost ran to about $60. I think her Kylie Jenner lipgloss comment is revealing of the fact that she isn’t considering that the entire bottom third of the income spectrum has been priced out of movie theatres.

I absolutely agree. They've priced out the lower income spectrum and the fact that those young'ns are all obsessed with KZbin and Tik Tok means that most of them are going to slam the money down for the theater as much either because they have more access to other stuff.

Ok. I have to say a few things. First, and I cannot stress this enough, Days of Thunder was & is one of the WORST movies ever created. It sucked. I hated it. I’m still angry I ever watched it! The acting sucked, the storyline sucked & seriously, the music from Top Gun is iconic!! You simply cannot compare these two movies. Top Gun is one of the greatest movies of all time. It’s like a marker for a point in time. Oh & Aliens2 is one of the all time greats. I will give you that the other releases around the time of Days of Thunder were definitely impressive but that wasn’t why it under-performed. It just sucked. It was overdone. They just tried too hard. It was awful. Oh and Cars?? How dare you!! I love that movie. Love, love, love it!! It’s movie gold. ❤️

@joselharrison5977 Ok, I have to give you a few responses. *to all non-party members, this is a sibling thing … the snark is intentional* “Ok. I have to say a few things. First, and I cannot stress this enough, Days of Thunder was & is one of the WORST movies ever created. It sucked. I hated it. I’m still angry I ever watched it! “ *One of the worst? Really? You need to watch more movies, because I can think of literally hundreds of worse films. You live a charmed life is Days of Thunder is one of your worst. Some of us had to sit through Rise of Skywalker where the width and breadth of the word “SUCK” was redefined. Days isn’t great, but if for the charm of Robert Duvall alone, it does not deserve this amount of hate.* The acting sucked, the storyline sucked & seriously, the music from Top Gun is iconic!! You simply cannot compare these two movies. *The acting was not significantly worse. You might have appreciated the performances in Top Gun more, but it’s the same level of cheese… and with nearly all the same elements, I would challenge you to point out actual moments were the acting was bad… to which I could respond with several over the top moments in Top Gun as well. The storyline… really?? Did you listen to nothing I said. THEY ARE THE SAME! Swap race cars and fighter jets and it’s the same plot, nearly beat for beat. Again, I get liking the SETTING of Top Gun more, but STORYLINE … which is synonymous with PLOT… is defined as “the main events of a play, novel, film, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence” - this, as I tried to highlight, is the same in both movies. I think you mean the SETTING perhaps. * *Now, as to music, I will give you that “Danger Zone” is iconic… and perhaps the main theme song… but that was the Kenny Loggins magic of the 80’s. I actually like the Days of Thunder opening theme as much as the Top Gun theme, but that’s personal taste. * *I most certainly CAN compare them. I DID in fact… if you had listened, missy. * *Again, this isn’t a question of “Is Days of Thunder AS GOOD AS Top Gun”. It’s a question of “How hard did they try to COPY Top Gun and WHY didn’t it work?” I will happily admit I do not like Days of Thunder as much as I like Top Gun, and I would assume many people would agree… the question is in thinking about how similar the two were in their construction and what made Days inferior. * Top Gun is one of the greatest movies of all time. *That… is going more than a bit overboard. Top Gun is great. I love it. I can also step back and acknowledge that it’s got a lot of 80’s campy cheese in it (Hello, homoerotic volleyball for no good reason). It’s a great film, but it’s not even close to one of the greatest of all time. I’m not even sure it’s Tom Cruise’s best film, to be honest. * It’s like a marker for a point in time. *Agreed. It has the late 80’s stamped all over it. * Oh & Aliens2 is one of the all time greats. *This is a bit closer to being true. I would generally agree that Aliens deserves to be in that conversation.* I will give you that the other releases around the time of Days of Thunder were definitely impressive but that wasn’t why it under-performed. It just sucked. It was overdone. They just tried too hard. It was awful. *Why did it suck? How was it overdone? What examples do you have of them trying too hard? Why was it awful? Arguments require evidence chickee-boo. It’s not enough to just say, “Well you’re ugly, so neener-neener!” Again, I felt the performances were on par Top Gun, and in some ways less over-the-top. Tom Cruise was being Tom Cruise. His performance, in my opinion, only wavers when he gets out of the “hero” box… like in Eyes Wide Shut or Vanilla Sky. When he’s playing the hero, that as reliable as any movie star is ever going to get… hence why he is the last bankable movie star in Hollywood (most recent Mission Impossible aside). Again, I like Top Gun more, but it’s not about the charm of the characters or the performances… there is something else in it that just didn’t appeal to me as much and I honestly believe it’s just that car racing isn’t as interesting a setting as fighter jets are. * Oh and Cars?? How dare you!! I love that movie. Love, love, love it!! It’s movie gold. *It is most certainly NOT movie gold. I can prove that. Do you know how many movies Pixar has made? I shall inform you, peasant: 27, up to and including Elemental - which was released in 2023. * *While I will admit there are flaws with Rotten Tomatoes, I am going to use it to hammer that stupid ass movie into oblivion. * *1 - out of the 27 Pixar movies, Cars 1, 2, and 3 take up three of the bottom FIVE slots for worst rated films according to critics. Cars 2 is by far the worst, with a 39% approval rating, Cars 3 is second worst at 69%, and Cars is fifth worst at 75%. The only things that are worse? Lightyear… which was Pixar LITERALLY SHITTING ON THEIR GREATEST CHARACTER… and Elemental… a children’s movie with complex gender and sexuality themes in it…. * *2 - out of the 27 Pixar movies, Cars 1, 2, and 3 also take up three of the bottom EIGHT slots according to AUDIENCES as well. Cars 2 is again the crown prince of shit town here as well. Cars 3 was fourth, and Cars was eighth. The other movies joining them in the dumpster here were: The Good Dinosaur (barf), Turning Red… a children’s movie about girl’s periods… A Bug’s Life, Brave, and the first Incredibles film. * *3 - out of the 27 Pixar movies, Cars ranks 20th in terms of worldwide box office, and Cars 3 ranks 21st. The second film actually eclipsed both and stands at 13th… but here’s a fun fact for you, the drop in rank between Cars 2 and 3 was the ONLY Pixar movie to have a sequel that did not surpass the previous film. Even Toy Story 4, which should never have been made, passed Toy Story 3. Inflation alone should cover this. But there was a SIGNIFICANT drop from Cars 2 to 3. Why? Because the second Cars movie is the most epic piece of COW POO that Pixar has ever made. * *Cars sucks. It was a gimmick to sell toys to elementary age boys. Glad to see it hit its target audience pookie 😊*

@@JonathanJStoneblack - hahaha!! Ahhh, I miss this. Such stimulating rhetoric. It brings me joy. Well, you came armed with stats (impressive), so I guess I am in the minority (when it comes to cars). I will have to admit the race car setting is not my cup of tea. And you can’t really compare race cars to jets. I think that’s your answer. More people likely respond positively to jets than race cars. So I think that’s your answer. I was watching an interview recently with a Hollywood movie star and I cannot remember who it was but he was discussing this exact topic. I was laughing. He agrees with your assessment on Hollywood & the “rinse & repeat” method of delivering entertainment. Top Gun & Days of Thunder are vastly similar. I just feel like Top Gun is iconic. It stands out because it’s a marker in time. Oh & the beach volleyball was absolutely essential to the plot (😂). Anywho, interesting topic. I look forward to the next!
