Playing against people Day 1 (Maybe day 2) of a new season and they're using old weapons is always a bit irksome to me. Even when there was a season where I didn't care about a single kit, I would still try something new. Everyone else is going to be experimenting, why not take a day to play a different weapon or class than usual?

An interesting case study when looking at weapon bans is the Team Fortress 2 6v6 comp scene. Weapons being banned in that community is pretty normalized, but outside of that it leads to a stigma towards competitive players that they just want to uphold the meta at all costs. It leads to a divide between the casual and comp scenes and likely hinders growth. The actual reason most weapons are banned is because 1) people don't like fighting against it and 2) it makes an already strong tactic oppressive. However, part of the reason its so easy for that community to ban weapons is because the game wasn't designed around 6v6, so despite being the most popular competitive format, they have to make adjustments to make the game fun.

Imagine telling chara from the chill season that pencil plus 3 zooka was going to be the meta at some point.

The amount this game makes me hate it is immeasurable. I lost another rank up series because nobody painted game 1, someone DCed game 2, they thought it would’ve been a good idea to use three specials at once when just claimed mid and need to paint game 3, and nobody painted game 5. We also had two blasters and stringers against a 52, 96, vshot, and vhydra. This game has good matchmaking what?
