Average lifespan of a European car is 150000 miles. ( USA it's 200000) It looks like Tesla battery and motors are good for over 200000 miles with 80% battery still available. The legacy auto manufactures have a lot of explaining to do

This pump is horroble. Switch off an on and no way to fix it. It needs a firmware update. I think someone in kindergarten has make the programming. and before defreezing its extreme loud. Horrible Heat pump. Inefficient and loud. What did Hitachi paid for this video?

Have you verified if the Sealion's range checks out for real? I appreciate your reasonably detailed review of the BYD Sealion 7 that attempts to shed a truthful and fair light at this EV model and its pros & cons. The big question here, however, as seems to be with all other BYDs - and it's quite disappointing that this most important issue is not even marginally mentioned by most EV reviewers - is how accurate (or truthful) really is BYD's PROMISED / ADVERTISED range vs the ACTUAL range this or any of their other models will give you in actuality. Have you had a chance to test the Sealion models' ranges so far and verify BYD's claims? Have you compared the actual kilometers you drove against the "spent" kilometers displayed on the range display of your car in real time? Assuming that you, too, have noticed a considerable deviation between your Sealion's range display and the kilometers that your car ultimately delivered, how do you reconcile BYD's advertised ranges with your own experience..? I really wonder why this topic isn't discussed in more depth as this is surely BY FAR still the most important factor in the decision making process of buying an EV.

You would be making a big mistake in the purchase of this make. Quality, who knows. No track record. Dealer network? Parts availability? Warranty enforcement ? Crash test?

You sound very negative in your opinion. Can American and European vehicles be unreliable of course stop with your bias views of Chinese vehicles.

@keitholiver2304 Everything I said is a true concern. Just because Japan makes the overall best quality, doesn't mean the same with China.

Parts and service can still be challenging in some countries with BYD, not necessarily in availability, but in times they can be delivered. Warranty as well, the car I tested was covered only by local distributor only. In EU they must have a eurowide warranty though. So, yes, unless you have a good dealer and service network in your country and the countries you use de travel to, this part may be still a challenge.

It seems to me the touch screen is a real driving hazard. Need to be able to operate everything without looking at it. Touch screen needs to shut off when ever the car is in drive. In China the touch screens are causing a massive number of accidents.

In China, almost no one uses touch screens, they all use voice control. Please don't act like a clown.
@stanleytolle416Ай бұрын
@saahan-nn1fe sorry, my Chinese is not that good. So far I have not encountered any voice control that actually works. Besides what's the point of a large screen except to look at it and adjust stuff on it. Kind of like hands free phone. It's the distraction of the conversation that's the problem not now the phone is handled.
@jim8149Ай бұрын
I have copied the chinese and am using voice control on my Dolphin in Thailand in English for everything that us allowed in the handbook. They all work and its a fantastic feature. People who can't adapt to technology will aways just complain like a dinosaur. Deal with it.

Good warranty, but what a bad car. Any diesel car can do 800.000 kms without changing nor the motor or gearbox. For 800.000kms the Tesla needed 2 batteries and 7motors ….. if he didn’t had the warranty, that would be a lot of money in repairs.
@chrisdawson31752 ай бұрын
a diesel car you'd spend more than the 2 batteries and 7 motors just in gas alone, not including maintenance.

I''ve seen water to water heat pumps talked about as a possibility, but didn't realise that an industrial size one existed. The main problem with using sea water as the heat source I would guess is corrosion and fouling of the heat exchanger.

It is a hybrid system not a heat pump only system. There is domestic heat pump systems that are hybrid what is the long term purpose of this exercise?
@alesh-cz4 ай бұрын
Quite fascinating the way they can play with the load balancing. The heat accumulator that gives them the energy buffer to seek favorable electricity prices, electric network stabilization service to the network operator, etc. All these things click into place if you have such a flexible system. I love that. Meanwhile here in Brno, Czech republic, the city of roughly 400 000 inhabitants and an extensive network of central heating, the city plans to bring a huge heat pipe from a nuclear powerplant (some 42km away) to use its waste heat as a heating source to limit the reliance on fossil fuels. This proposed system will be incredibly expensive - some 750 000 000 EUR 🙄. even if we had 4 systems like the one in Esbjerg, it would be fraction of the cost. Oh well..

Title is misleading. Heatpumps as been a large part of eg. Stockholms distance heating grid since the 80s.... About 2.8TWH of district heat was produced in this way in Sweden alone 2016. Many times from sewage which is warmer than seawater normaly.
