I’m from Wigan, we won’t that cup in that classic final the yr before. We got to the quarter finals in 86’ castleford came to Central Park and beat us, I remember as a kid trudging home heartbroken, thinking it was the end of the world, then watching the final a few weeks later and seeing j sandy , it was great, great for r league . Classic.

as good a player as Dorahy was, excellent in fact, he should never have been kicking, Fairbairn was a far better kicker and could kick from the touchline for fun, Dorahy cost us a lot from misses from there. But what a team we has, followed them home and away, today I don't watch any games, stopped years ago when they started to ruin the game with rule changes, it's not the game it used to be, If I was young now I would never play the game and I loved it when I played, it was my life, now? forget it.

Tyrer's goal kicking would have probably been the difference if he could have played the whole game. I thought Cliff Hill (the first substitute to be used at Wembley) had a great game when he replaced Tyrer.

Great try. I saw him score a similar try for York against Swinton in the old first division in the 1985/86 season. He didn't have as many players to beat, but he ran further and the pitch was much heavier that day. Steadman was always an exciting player to watch.

Went to this game as a fanatical sporting 18 year old student in Manchester. Great to see it again and every bit as great a game as I remembered. I am a Saints fan but would go to watch any RL game.
