The only way to end your run in some of these older versions is to catch a celestial portal and obliterate yourself. other than that this is pretty much just an endless looter shooter, but honestly I really like the simplicity of it.

This video is just so relaxing to my soul to see how the game used to be back when I first played in 2019. ROR2 is such a good game

I preferred the early access version compared to the release version, put at least 100 hours into it. Old stickybombs were so broken lmfao

as someone who got into the game starting with survivors of the void, it's interesting seeing this game in such an early state

Overloading Lagma Worm

i need to learn how to mod this game just to disable the overloading visuals on magma worms, tired of these things especially on prestige runs

yeah, it is kind of frustrating. turning the game to the lowest detail seems to help by limiting the amount of particles they make but at a certain point that will not save you. you can find the low detail switch in the settings menu. overloading magma worms are the only reason I play with the lowest detail because every other part of the game runs smooth as butter unless I’m SUPER late into runs and there’s a ton of teleporter bosses. Edit: I forgot I also play with damage numbers turned off. Not sure how much it helps but I'll take anything that might reduce lag.

I’ve had runs using artifacts of honor, prestige, and kin where hundreds of not thousands of clay men, jellyfish, or lemurians flood the screen and crash my game on stage 6 Know I was ecstatic every time I found a clover

as much as I’d like for them to be less laggy, it is kind of funny to have something that says “please fuck off you’ve played long enough”

Update, this video was supposed to be uploaded before the Seekers of the Storm DLC released but it became available on Steam a little over an hour ago, and this video went public just now. Whoops Also, there’s some long pauses in this video for when I left my computer. Hopefully I can post the timestamps soon so those can be skipped easier because this is the uncut recording. I’ll put them in the description if I do.

copy&pasted from this Reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/geometrydash/comments/18aaokz/violet_rave_cavern_made_by_me/ Edit: Sorry about the death in the video, I clipped it wrong before uploading. I clipped it again in KZbin studio. So lemme drop some fun facts about this level really fast and talk about it's development. After finishing a different level like four months ago after a long gap of inactivity, I got some newfound motivation to make another Geometry Dash level for old times sake before 2.2 gets here, and luckily the update was delayed just a little longer to give me the time I needed. The level name was chosen earlier in the development by a friend of mine. I couldn't decide on a name so I asked some friends, and one asked me to describe the level. I just said that it was kinda purple, screenshared some gameplay to them in Discord, and then they just said "Violet Rave Cavern", so that's what I stuck with, and I'm glad I did because it directly inspired me to make the cavern-like background starting in the second half of the level. I probably wouldn't have had any other ideas otherwise. The little shooting stars I used in the first ship and wave part in the beginning and in the end were inspired by the Milky Ways level from Just Shapes and Beats, which is a great bullet hell game. I also used the same song, and that level is probably the reason this Geometry Dash level exists at all. The background in the very beginning part of the level was just something I randomly came up with that ended up looking good to me. For the cube part at 1:47 in the video, I was in a creative slump for what I should use for a background. I thought it would be cool if I used the same warpy background from this part in Sphero by GD Jose, but it ended up being a little too cluttered for my taste and would just be copying, but eventually I decided to reuse the background from the beginning and combine the Sphero effect with it, and it resulted in what is definitely my favorite part of the level. And after that, any other decoration ideas I came up with on my own. And after that, I came up with any other decoration ideas on my own. I used the default blocks like I always do and added just a bit of glow to them. I tried to make all of the obstacles look sort of like plants, starting with one stem and then branching out, though not everything in the level follows this rule. I'm still super happy with how this all turned out though. Aaaand that's pretty much all I have to say I think. Thanks for reading!

Copy&pasting this from a comment I made here: www.reddit.com/r/geometrydash/comments/15ji3tn/comment/juzzuhc/?context=3 Heya, I’m making this post mainly just to talk a little bit about this level because it has a bit of history. So about six years ago, I started making this level out of inspiration from Dark Travel. After coming up with ideas and building it for quite awhile, I slowly lost the drive to continue making it. I would take long gaps in between building and eventually stopped entirely. I had an entire second half of the level thought out so I could use the entire song, but the passion just wasn’t there anymore and it was already getting lengthy, and I’m kind of a slow builder. Eventually I got to the point where I would only occasionally go back to this level to replay it and screenshare to friends. Fast forward to about a year ago, and I finally decided to add some touchups to the level, mainly to the gameplay, because I had made the level when I was much younger and didn’t comprehend how annoying moving objects could be if you don’t use them right, so a lot was changed to fix parts that did that. The level was also intended to be a demon, so a few parts of the gameplay were completely redone so I could have more room for challenge. I had done a lot of work on this, but I once again never released the level because I still wanted to make the second part to finish the song. I really wanted to make that happen because I wanted the level to live up to what I had imagined, but I could still never bring myself to do it. I didn’t feel like it and I’m honestly just up to other things nowadays, even though I still love Geometry Dash. Fast forward once again to now, and I finally decided that the best thing to do with this level was to add some final touch ups, verify it, and FINALLY release it, and I’m glad I did because what I had was already basically done, so it’d be a waste if it continued to just be sitting in my levels folder after I had put so many hours into it. I don’t really know if I’m necessarily proud of this level…? You can REALLY tell it takes inspiration from Dark Travel, so much so that it feels like it’s almost copying, even though some things are original. Some might even call it a budget Dark Travel, and I wouldn’t blame them. Still, I wanted to finish this because, once again, I already previously put the time in. I could have also gone back and changed some stuff so it was copying less, but I didn’t want to stray too far away from the original design. Also tbh a couple of my other online levels take inspiration from others, and it’s dead obvious if you’ve already played the levels I took from. I’ve deleted levels here and there because of that. There are a couple that I created with my own ideas though, and even if some aren’t completely original, I still have fun making them, which is all that really matters to me. And it's nice when other people say they enjoy the gameplay I make, which is something I think I’m alright at. It’s pretty much the only thing to admire because I build in an old school style most of the time, pfft. Also, level name was originally gonna be Dark Matter, which was literally just part of the song name, but that’s boring. Dancing Ribbons was just something that popped up in my mind that sounded kinda cool. I think I summed all my thoughts up pretty well here. I really wish I felt more motivated to make Geometry Dash levels nowadays but I struggle with being motivated. Not sure why, it’s just gotten harder for me to get up and do things over the years. I recently started making a level that’s based around those bricks that break when you move through them because those don’t get a lot of attention. I’ve made some progress but don’t count on it ever getting released, because I really don’t know if I’m gonna finish it. Also, before I started making major changes a year ago, I made a copy of the level beforehand so I could edit that instead. The following KZbin video contains a quick scroll-through and editor gameplay (with ignore damage turned on) of the level before the major changes for comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKOpnHesabVrn9U Just decided to include this for fun. If you want to play this level, the ID is 93127445. Dark Travel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onvVnneaiamJl7M Edit: Another thing I forgot to mention is that I don't like how some parts of this level are much easier or much harder than others, but I still don't feel like changing it and I'm going to leave it as is. I also REALLY don't feel like verifying this again because I'm shit at this game. That’s it from me for now, sorry if this is a bit long. Thanks for reading!

Just made this video public again now. I'm copy&pasting the following from a comment I made awhile back on this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apubZa2jZcZ1mdk Pinned by Chez @EverydayAden 3 years ago (edited) I feel like I should clarify something here. This level was not made to be cursed in the way that you may think. The name for this level was decided quite quickly and released without much more thought, and I do admit that I should have put more thinking into the name. If I remember right, I wasn't really sure what counted as "cursed" on the internet at the time that this level went public, so uh, sorry about that. Trying to fool people or get downloads and likes was not my intention and still isn't. I also uploaded this thinking that it wouldn't get much attention, but I came back after like a year of complete inactivity and to my surprise it got over 200 likes and over 9,500 downloads. There were also a lot of positive comments too, and I really can't thank everyone enough for showing so much support, and I'm sorry to those that clicked on the level thinking that it was something different.
