A far better method for energy storage by gravity is indirect how it works is solar and wind power Powers the grid when this is happens. The gates of the Hydro Dam are closed the rainfalls and the water accumulates behind the dam thereby storing energy the Hoover Dam has Lake Mead behind it one can see by photographs the high Mark or bath tub rings left by previous High marks lifting weights would be too impractical and too expensive to build the towers. Old abandon mine shaft would be better. Off shore where the ocean is deep is another method to drop a heavy weight.

Anyone know what's up with wave energy? I'd think the ocean would be perfect for generating power.

Didn't like that the thumbnail was digitally edited and faked... Came here to leave this comment that I wont be watching the video as the thumbnail was clickbait. 👍🏻

All of this sucks. I have realized 2 things as I approach retirement. 1: I didn't save enough to get all this cool shit when I retire and have the free time. 2: I don't have enough time to make more.

Nice ideas. All of this stuff is rendered on a computer, none of it really exists. I have a bunch of ideas I can pull out of my ass and then have someone render it on computer. These inventions aren't real so they aren't changing the game. The Turanor Catamaran has gone around the world twice and hasn't picked up shit, yet.

Surely if it takes more energy for the blocks rise then it is inefficient

If you lift 1000 metric tons to a height of 40 meters, you just stored 108 kWh of energy, which is little bit more than a Tesla Model S battery. That's pathetic

Graphene cost hundreds of thousands of dollars pr kilogram depending on grade due to the difficulties of manufacturing . I don't see how it could make sense to use it in bulk construction materials that need to be cheap. If we could freely pick and choose the ideal materials regardless of cost then it's not hard to find better materials than steel, concrete and wood. Prices will probably drop in the future as production technology advances, but this is still quite a stretch.

I think the trains on the hillside concept is the most practical other than pumped hydro. The towers would only make sense in completely flat terrain with no natural gravity options.

Sad and beautiful at the same time. The people kept uneducated and criminal corporate companies ignored the health and well being of local residents and the ecology all for profits.

But why bother designing an expensive and fragile balancing system, when it would be so much simpler to run a cab on a normal track...? Or how to spend money to do less than what could have been done with what already exists ! Crazy world !

i was suggesting a similar idea to a coworker trying to make his own generator or something. told him to hook a weight up to his roof and hook it up to an alternator and a battery, and just hand crank it up twice a day. someone make it and give me a small profit
