This is great! It's the best easiest to understand zippered pouch tutorial I've seen and it gives me confidence I can make one following your clear directions!!! I think I'll stick with scissors vs the rotary cutter ... I've been accident prone lately. :) Thank you for posting this excellent tutorial!

Loved the video, great job of explaining everything. Like the idea of the bias tape for a finished look. Could do without the music, it drove me crazy, lol
@catobear92 ай бұрын
Thank you! I've heard a few comments about the music. Next video, I'll cut it out!
@Kenna1982 ай бұрын
Love the idea of using bias tape to do the final sew, instead sewing the lining & the outer fabric separately, seems a lot easier, thank you!
@catobear92 ай бұрын
I think it is easier for sure. As you saw from the video, I have a hard time putting everything together in my mind, and inevitably if I'm doing the lining and outside fabric separately, I have one or the other inside-out!

Love the video , great teacher but music very distracting! Thank you ❤

This is by far the BEST tutorial for sewing a zippered pouch. I have one question though...I can't find the video capture of how the zipper tabs are sewn in. Thank you for helping..
@catobear92 ай бұрын
Thank you! 8:40 is where the tabs are sewn to the zipper. Starting at 14:00 you can see where the whole zipper assembly with the tabs in is sewn to the front and back pieces. You'll need to use a little extra effort when you do the final turn-out as they kind of hide. I use a knitting needle to do the turn out. Holler if you need another view of it!

Hi Jess...Just a comment or suggestion about the tote and the slow-stitched heart. How about not putting the heart in the center of the bag? I think it gives a cute touch as a small decoration, say in the lower left corner of the bag. (I guess I just think accents don't always have to be "centered"). Or...how about applying a background piece of fabric behind the heart? A gingham square matching the gingham in the heart would be cute. (P.S. Is there no a/c in your craft room? :( ) P.P.S. Do you still have the pin with the little blue cat? I need to buy that from you.
@catobear93 ай бұрын
Excellent ideas! I do have some great gingham fabric I can use as the backing. I love gingham! No a/c in my craft room unfortunately. Worse, it's also my exercise room with my spin bike! The pin is already winging its way to you via USPS.

Thank you! Yes, I think you're right. I expect commercial stuff to be perfect, but often it isn't at all. It's less charming than when I imagine someone sitting down and making it from love.

How much would you pay for one of the pins at a craft fair booth?
@beccacarrillo3 ай бұрын
Just saw this question. It's hard to judge something like this...because it is such a personal thing when it's your handiwork. If I had to say, and I hope this is reasonable, I'd easily pay $8 to $10 for one of your pins.

Thanks! I'm honestly using my video editing on my own to improve for the shelter. I've got a ton of education videos to create this summer and there's a bit of a learning curve on the software. I do like to look at the garden videos in the cold of winter though. Reminds me that summer will eventually return.

I've read that there are "permanent" versions of Parker Quink inks called "Super Quink", however I haven't seen any modern Parker ink box/bottle with such a name ("Super Quink") written on it so far, but just "Quink". How to differentiate the "Super Quink" (permanent ink) bottles from the standard "Quink" (non-permanent ink) ones? Or is it the same ink that some people call it "Super Quink" when in fact it is just "Quink"? Maybe they refer it to as "Super Quink" when there's no legend "washable" written on the box/bottle (black, blue-black) and as "Quink" when there's the legend "washable" written on the box/bottle (blue)? It's just so confusing!

It was fun but I never thought about incorporating more of my fountain pen inks and stamps and stuff from pen paling... I believe I'll give this a try!! Also, I'm so delayed in replying to your letter ... Yikes it's like I've been in a fog. ❤❄Sitting down right now to write you a letter!!!✒✉

Chris, thank you so much for watching! I can't wait to see what you put together. The inks are fun to use, but you won't want to mod-podge over the top of them as it makes most of the ink run. A sealing spray would work. I feel like I'm sleepwalking through a lot these days, especially work. Maybe warmer weather will help?
