Last watched this so many times in 2019 - (last Rugby World cup championship) I'm now watching it again, and again. So much heart felt emotion. SA can be soooo proud of how they came out of apartheid. Hats off to this nation. ❤

My husband and I went to South Africa for a month in December mid-eighties. We landed there Christmas day with no visas (from Canada) - we didn't know we needed them. Visas were required because of the sanctions enacted by the international community because of apartheid. The authorities finally decided we were no threat and let us in. I was heartbroken and smitten by what I saw and went back in 1989 to volunteer and to do my bit against apartheid. Ended up on a wine farm which didn't seem to fit the bill at first but the owners of the farm decided to hire knapsackers and people like me to augment the farm pool. It was a resounding success - whites and blacks working together. The press came from 8 countries to do stories about us. I felt so proud to do my part. At the end of the day, we are all in this together on this earth, human beings. Nelson, you were one of our shining stars!

I remember where I was when I first heard of his passing. I was working the night shift. At the time, I worked in an isolated area where I was the only operator. Thank God, because I had the privacy to cry and grieve for him without others staring. I said a prayer thanking God for him. He was heaven sent to save our country from bloodshed and war

We can't see him The title of the song translates approximately to "We did not see him,” and refers to the "need South Africans had for their persecuted icon." "Asimbonanga" has been described as part of a trend that emerged within South African music after the 1976 Soweto uprising, of combining politically ... en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki Asimbonanga: refers to Mandela’s long jail term. Other phrases in song: how much longer must we wait for apartheid to just go away? Love this always.

"We did not see him" is a better translation. We can't see him is "Asikwazi ukumbona". We have not seen him is "Asikamboni"...

NO ONE should ever have to be ashamed of their people, their families, their heritage, or their culture just because a self-important bully with a past as a woman of ill repute has self-esteem issues with her own inadequacies.

Can't see for the tears in my eyes! I'm a proud Englishwoman and never been to South Africa, but WOW! Such emotion, power and love in that Flashmob. I can see that it's about the great Mandela, but can you provide a translation, or a link to where I can read one, please? Humbling. Thank you ❤️
