They are not really important for the main storyline, you follow different characters in each novella so it is fun to read through different perspectives and it helps you understand the characters better, but is it not a must read to understand the story.

The first one hit hard. I never understood why all these people on TikTok read in order to reach a reading goal of 20-30 books a month. Like, how do these people have time to really enjoy the book if it's all about getting to the next one and the next one and the next one on your TBR. I mean, to be fair, the books I see on booktok are all the same - YA, romance, fantasy, easy to read with two dimensional characters - which is fine. If you want to read that, more power to you. It's entertainment. People read to be entertained. But personally, I like to read books with a little more substance. Classics, non-fiction, historical fiction - it's book that force me to take my time and reflect. It's so much more giving in my opinion. I would never read just for the sake of reading 30 books a month. It makes no sense to me.
