Lane hogging is being there for no reason, if you need the lane for an impending exit then it's planning ahead. Your interpretation of lane hogging is too black and white, the world doesn't work like that.

Planning ahead, it's a single road section with nothing else going on, no other junctions, nothing, simply getting into lane in good time is the right thing to do. Only people it would inconvenience are speeding drivers and impatient numpties and I couldn't care less about either of them.

Might be some dodgy signage and markings, 8:17 shows straight only on the road.

It's worrying how many people dont read the road and just assume it's how it used to be then!!

perfectly fine to do that, read the signage, Lakeside to use both lanes (can't see the sign on the clip but if you know the area, which you claim to, it's clear on the slip road.) I get so many people not read that sign and cut from lane 1 to lane 2 towards the other roundabout.

@@EssexBadDriving I go to Lakeside all the time and I have never noticed those signs before. That's a pretty dangerous thing to do with just signs because I'm looking on street view and the lane markings on the roundabout do not signal that you can do that. Mind blown but also a little perplexed at how poorly that is handled

i think it's relatively new, like last few years or so. I used to get pissed off with those taking the exit from lane 2 but since that sign is up (or at least I noticed it similar to you!) I've used the lanes correctly and get cut up most the time sadly.

first one, that's just nonsense. When you're dealing with roundabouts that short a distance from eachother it makes so much sense to get in the lane early rather than trying change lanes close to them. only impatient idiots would undertake in that situation as those in the right lane would clear at one of the upcoming roundabouts. 2nd one, straddling the lane there is no issue, had no-one to the side and wasn't hindering anyone. scraping the barrel on these comments to try and bash the 'whinging cammer'. Think someone needs to stop projecting.

You're sat in the right lane a full 30 seconds with an empty left lane before you even get to the first roundabout never mind the one you actually want to turn right at. There was more than enough time and space for you to move left to let the traffic overtake and be back out again even before the first roundabout lmao. Another full 30 seconds passes between the first and second roundabout too! You're lane hogging there, no two ways about it. Other guy is driving like a complete tool there obviously but you should have moved left. If the roles were swapped you'd be moaning about lane hogging.

My partner failed her driving test on the exact same roundabouts for the reason you’re claiming to be correct. When the road is that clear, you should not be in the right hand lane all that time

Ouch, shame they got a buggar of an examiner. I was always taught to get in lane early and think ahead. I wonder if people would get failed for taking an exit really late these days!

Poorly designed yeah, but there are things people can do to make it easier for themselves without doing the thing wrong. I think the whole double roundabout junction needs a rethink as it's a nightmare going under the bridge from either side to be honest!

@@EssexBadDriving definitely....if it was a proper double roundabout where the filter lane in question actually carried on under the bridge and became the left turn filter lane into Pipp's Hill, almost an upside down half cloverleaf type thing, then it would be better. Maybe get rid of the filter part for Pipps Hill that nobody really needs, and change it to a left-or-straight on and change the right hand lane at the roundabout from a right-or-straight-on to a right-turn-only for A127 westbound. So rather than being Filter Left / Straight On / Straight On or Right, it becomes Left or Straight On / Straight On / Right Only. Nobody using the junction as in the clip would need to change lanes then to get into Basildon, except for the tiny proportion of traffic coming from Steeple View who want to go to Pipps Hill. Kind of get the vibes that that's what they wanted to do, but didn't plan ahead enough to build the bridge span wide enough to have a proper 2 lanes each way under it. The filter lane at the moment isn't really a filter lane, it's just a weirdly placed give way that puts the traffic you need to see right in your blind spot and at peak times makes it quicker to not use (albeit incorrectly), which just encourages misuse.

No worries, as I said, a good few people have commented the same while not being mistaken so wasn't all on your comment. I just couldn't find the others and didn't want to spend ages looking for them. I had a little feeling it was a misunderstanding.

the design of it isn't the best, but sadly it seems to be the reluctance for people to do proper observations which causes them to do it wrong. It's way too much effort to look over your shoulder to check that blindspot and the driver side mirror of course! :D People also don't seem to think of ways to make it easier for themselves before they get to the line, like if you see a lot of cars on the roundabout, just ease off and time it so when you get to the line it should be clear.

⁠​⁠@@EssexBadDriving Agreed, I’ve had a few instances where I’ve had a lorry right behind me and I’ve not been able to see round. I’ve started to avoid this roundabout at rush hour where possible or I’ve even gone right round completely if it’s really busy.

sadly it's a real problem in bas-vegas, the amount of times I've been ready to go and a vehicle pops up out of nowhere because they've taken that damn roundabout wrong, i'm surprised there's not more accidents there!

there's enough traffic on the roads though! doubling the HGVs would wreck absolute havoc! go back to COVID times when traffic was so sparse (ignoring the absolute nutters that seemed to be out and about on the roads then though!)

No, if I pulled out I would have made the car which did overtake move or change speed. The van should have adjusted their speed for the gap, the responsibility is on them to join safely. Jeez I thought that was pretty clear and obvious.

@@EssexBadDriving weak reason? Lane 1 ends and merges into lane 2. Ergo, they moved into lane 2. They made no attempt to overtake. They left both you and themselves plenty of space. Probably the most nothing clip I've ever seen on a bad driving video.

there's a delay in the camera speed, you can see the speed reducing just after. you've missed the point about on coming traffic. first 2 should complete their move, with a signal to say thanks (manners if missing) and the other cars just plow through following the leader rather than holding back as the obstruction is on their side. people are supposed to think for themselves on whether it is clear for them to go past the obstacle, however it seems a rarity.

@EssexBadDriving I understand that there is about a 2 second delay on the dash cam speed read out after watching your videos, so forwarded the video by 4 seconds and your doing 28mph I can also see you visible slow down at that point. I watched your next video and funnily your doing 28mph at exactly the same point in exactly the same location, if you do the speed limit out side that school you will encounter less problems with the on coming traffic. 😉

Technically you're wrong. You can't turn left from that lane, the markings are there for a reason. People like you who do it wrong make it dangerous and you're coming from a blind angle, positioned correctly you can see those coming from the roundabout but not from the wrong lane turning left. For everyone else on the road please think reconsider your approach to that roundabout.

@@EssexBadDriving You are mistaken. You used the sliproad which bypasses the roundabout and is not subject to the standard roundabout rules, but can only turn left. The lane the red car used is the left lane entering the roundabout and you are allowed to turn left from it, and the road markings indicate that since they resurfaced the road. Go and have a look.

Ok, you're either a troll or blind. Check the video, it clearly says Billericay where the red car turns from. Going under the A127 is not Billericay. Billericay A176 is what you call lane 1, Basildon A176 is the slip road which you refuse to take. I really don't understand where you're going wrong here! It's simple reading... google maps shows it, the video shows it, I drove it yesterday... the new signage shows it. stop spreading fake advice please as it does no-one any good and some poor sod may actually take your word for it and end up worse for wear.

Not sure what you expect from a small channel. I'm not going to go out and cause accidents for content. General philosophy is to not crash into anyone... I don't get countless clips from contributors. Someone needs to amend their expectations rather than just moaning about the same thing video to video. Not sure how this comment is productive or useful to anyone, or do you just thrive on trying to kick the small channels?

@@EssexBadDriving I would have thought that it would be an idea to only put video scenes that are more interesting than just very minor transgressions, not to just put in video content of someone just driving but claiming that it is "Essex Bad Driving" Wait until you have content with a bit more to see. I don`t thrive on trying to kick small channels at all, I don`t even think of these as channels, they are just video`s to me and should contain what is claimed, this is very much the same a the ones with "click bait" pictures on them. Have a look at the brilliant "Road Morons" See how good and entertaining he is.

what you consider bad driving and what I do differs greatly then. I drive defensively and try (as much as possible obviously as I'm not perfect) to make the bad driving non-events. This may make them look boring rather than me just ploughing into the danger for content. I do not create the content, it's what I capture while driving. I will never create the content for clicks etc. as that is brainless. If you hadn't noticed Essex Bad Driving is the channel name, I name the videos the same everytime for consistency and for the algorithm, naming each as Dash Cam Driving Fails. As I said, manage your expectations, each channel is different and has a different style. I won't look at other channels and copy them.

@@EssexBadDriving what your content displays is how other people drive and bears no relation to how you drive, my comment was about the title of your channel being about bad drivers, I suppose that is a matter of opinion as to what is bad and what is just simple mistakes that actually cause a couple of seconds delay in another persons journey, to me, bad driving is incidents that could cause an accident such as people pulling out at roundabouts with cars coming from the right, pulling out of side roads, speeding in places where it could become an accident and so on. I too drive with care and consideration for other road users, I also drive with the mindset of avoiding accidents when other people take risks, I keep to the speed limits as much as possible but even the police slip up now and then. I will still watch your channel because I like to see the drive, the area where the driving is done because I was born and raised in Essex and I like to try to recognise the places, I don`t necessarily need to see accidents but I am not really interested in seeing someone make a harmless mistake and get hooted for doing so.

The standards are getting worse, have a backlog of clips and I'm becoming more and more selective as there is a ton to get through.

It does, then again the UK does to be fair, often mistake south London roads for Essex myself
