Kathleen Kennedy knew enough about Star Wars to deliberately prevent Star Wars fans from getting what they really wanted. It seems to have been a constant thing where various writers and creators on Star Wars projects had ideas that fans would have loved to see on screen, only for KK to step in, and somehow make things worse.. (it's kind of like working for Rolls Royce, except the boss turns out to absolutely hate luxury cars). I think the only projects where I've never heard about something like that were The Last Jedi and The Acolyte, probably because the folks overseeing those were ALREADY fully on board with KK's 'vision'. (in fact Kennedy was so pleased with the director of The Last Jedi, and his willingness to 'subvert fan expectations', she wanted to give him his own trilogy of movies. As for The Acolyte, she still wants that to continue, despite the way it completely ignores and contradicts George Lucas's own established canon, and just happens to be plain awful)

I remember watching this as a child and being pretty yucked out by the thought of him seeing what’s left of his head in the surgeon’s hands. Great movie tho, not quite as good as the first, but both movies are miles better than anything that came after.
