Recording myself is sometimes scary to listen back to. Sobering need to get the metronome back into the practice routine.

There’s that and there’s also just desensitizing yourself to hearing your own playing back. Sorta the same as hearing your voice on an answering machine.

i know its a really dumb question...but will i actually gain speed from starting slow? 😅 sometimes i wonder if im wasting my time

So starting slow may seem so boring But it helps your picking and fretting hand get synced up So once you start trying to hit faster speeds you won’t trip all over the place. I’ve been playing for 23 years and sadly I tried to go as fast as possible early on I got sloppy So now I’m practicing with a metronome Slowly upping the speed.

Very cool. Like the Eric Johnson rolling 5’s. I’ve been messing around with those a lot last few days. Hard to do and sound unique. I guess it has to have the right balance.

Good job man. I've seen so many vids on this particular subject and you summarized it all very nicely AND you sound great and don't talk to much lol. Great example. Wondering if you can post some licks (or an approach) going in the other direction? I have some ideas of my own. Just wondering if you have some ascending ideas or a method. I find reciprocating the same descending approach doesn't sound all that amazing. IDk. Cheers ;)
