National Geographic Wildlife Wonders - Owls - The Silent Hunters Owls have large eyes, but they cannot see in total darkness. Owls need some light to be able to see. In low light, their pupils grow very big. This lets as much lights enter. The low light strikes the back surface of the eye. This back surface acts like a mirror. It reflects the light back to make it brighter. It also makes owls's eyes glow when shined by infrared light rays in the dark.

I posted in a fb group about this website and app. A guy told me its not really LIVE and doesn't show current positions due to security. Im like "whatever". He said they are Geo synchronous? I dont know what he's saying but i want to prove him wrong. Thoughts?

I just learned today of John's passing, it's a bit of a gut punch even though I never actually met him in person, I found him when he first went off grid in Terlingua, my hubby and myself were also going off grid in far west Texas, much farther north than John. We connected online and became friends, as much as you can be friends through the internet. I will miss his posts and videos. RIP John.

I met and interviewed John for my YT channel about solar cooking, 3 years ago. He made his own spectacular life in the desert and it was an honor to meet such a video artist. I wish I'd scored one of his sugar skulls while I was there! But I have my own video to pull up now and again-- find it at kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2S7ppmZmc1smLc

It's pretty understandable why ground-based telescope astronomers are finding it hard to track genuine celestial objects during nighttime observations! If I was an astronomer, I'd be very distressed about the "streaks" left behind by satellites, too.
@D4u2s0t6 ай бұрын
If you were an astronomer you would know that's not actually a concern as the starlink satellites are pretty much only causing streaks in the sky upon their initial launch when they have not yet achieved proper orbit at which time they Orient themselves away which does not reflect the light the same as it does after launch. These are also grossly exaggerated in terms of size compared to the size of the Earth on that map at this size do you understand the scale each starlink would be germ size approximately

John Wells left his unique signature on a desert canvas where he painted his genius on the sands and skies of Terlingua. Such an outstanding perspective on life he shared with the many of us who wandered across his landscape along with his friends of rabbits,birds.snakes and yes,his special BEN. John has been a fascinating presence to behold in his nonstop quest to explore and create the many facets of his curiosity of life. And now, what better depiction he captured and created in his cloudy day of his soul here in his parting video. John walked into eternity with his boots across Texas sands and sky to ride with angels out of town. His footprints indelible in the many lives he touched in sheer artistry and honestly. And now, the man is gone. Non assuming and matter of factly he counted the odds of his fate and walked into the sunset. To whoever of his family exists. Thank you for the thoughtful honor to John in a Rembrance Event . John has been on my mind for months and today I ran across the news of his parting. For all who find this, please share. Thank you. Respectfully, an internet friend. John Niles Wells January 10 ,2024 memorials.eternityfhfts.com/john-wells/5358849/#details
