@ChrisW164, that was how the "Original Sim" in Marvel Fanfare happened. Dave had to buy Deni out, and needed cash immediately. That in turn, turned into the Epic stories.

I noticed the "marriage" part of the contract too. Am I misremembering or was Dave and Deni's divorce the reason he even started looking into working with Marvel or DC on this, just to bring in some extra money? Or am I thinking of the Epic stories or something else?
@ChrisW1648 сағат бұрын
I'm also thinking of the fact that the industry did change. The example I cite is Garth Ennis' "The Boys," which DC published the first six issues of - I think it was through one of Jim Lee's sub-companies but don't remember - and decided there was no way they could keep doing this. So they quit, Ennis and the artists took the book to another company and it stayed popular and influential until they finished the story.

If you had showed us the Rabbi card, the world would now be a happier place. Unicorns would prance magically on vibrant rainbows across our consciousness. The air would take on an intoxicating tangy aroma of Twinkies and root beer as we all live better, smile easier and treat each other with simple human decency. But you didn't show us the Rabbi card. It's all your fault.

Allen & Ginter is one of the old-timey baseball card brands that Topps owns. (They were originally a tobacco brand that included cards in the packs.) The current iteration is a high-end set, so made from nicer card stock and they have a lot of non-baseball subjects like famous people, places and things, but it's still primarily a baseball set.

Wow. Dave's answers never disappoint. And his commentary on the state of Canada and thoughts on how to fix the addiction / homeless problem there was very thoughtful. Thanks again, Matt and Dave. Greetings from the ROC!

Hey Matt! I kinda like when you break the questions up into sections. I can never sit down in one sitting to listen to the whole darn thing. Also, download and save my portions.

@@mattfukndow If I might politely suggest. There's an easy compromise for listeners like Mike and those like Cerebus92 and I: If you just upload one video, you can then put time codes in the description. Folks can just click the time codes to skip directly to the section they want to listen to. EX: 1:45:18 A discussion of Monotheism 1:55:37 A discussion of Jim Valentino Hope it helps everyone... especially Matt -- no need for a ton of extra editing and uploading every time.

His name was Zach Rabiroff. And on another note, the Ditko Estate (DitkoVerse) will be re-publishing all of the Static issues as well as compiling all of the individual stories into a single volume, along with many other projects.

It has occurred to me how many of my lifelong fashion, architecture and decorating choices have been heavily influenced by some panel in a comic book that the artist probably didn't think about for more than a few moments.

need that math/years stuff spelled out in a comicbook story. might be able to grasp it tighter then.

I suppose I can (also) answer some of Dave's questions here. Since college, throughout my work-for-hire comics career, as well as creating my creator-owned comics and graphic novels, I have been inking with a #2 Winsor & Newton series seven sable brush and a Hunt #102 crow quill pen nib. These were the tools that one of my teachers, Will Eisner, recommended us using to ink comics and graphic novels. The ink that I use now, and since a little after I started working in comics, is the Pelikan Tusche A Drawing Ink waterproof black ink. Although, recently, I have found that the Pelikan ink not being as dark, as black, as it has been for decades. Dunno why that is. #MakeComicsGreatAgain

I can't remember the last time I inked. Almost got "inked" by a 'possum once. Was playing a pretty solid dead. Lifted gently up off the ground by the dog. Bowels remained solid. I can't imagine the level of distress needed to coax a 'possum releasing the stinky ink. Thankfully.
