Coaxial better
@BackstreetCameras12 күн бұрын
If you're older and and scared of technology, someone could see coax as better. But the technology is in its twilight years. 99% of cameras sold now are IP or wifi. The only reason manufacturers even offer coax cameras still is because of the millions of miles of coax cable already inplace in millions of buildings. Trust us, coax is almost over.

Let's get real. The vast majority of viewers watching this or caring about this are thinking about trying this with their neighbor's security cameras. And let me tell you, my neighbors have been waging a war on my security cameras overwatching our fence line. How do I know? I have all the incidental footage of them sneaking up to or surreptitiously approaching my fence line during the day then popping out behind the bushes at night with their laser and shining it at my cameras. They do not do it very long, likely because they are watching my camera through their own Ring cameras up in he eaves of their roof and her husband probably whispers down to her on her phone -- "abort! abort! abort! it is filming you!" Then she pops back down again. LOL My cameras are just fine by the way. I have about a dozen trail cameras of various capabilities all overwatching each other and covering my fence line. It drive them bonkers because they are habitual criminal trespassers and they know I will get the photo or the video that they don't want to appear in.

What people don't understand is that wireless cameras are borderline useless against criminals, it's more effort to put your shoes on than to disable one with interference.

Im assuming that you're only covering the wire connection and where its passing in this video.. because if it was about angeling and location for eg 2.57 the camera ia facing yhe guttering, worst white..meaning at night the infrared whould pick up an extremely white glow where the customer cant see anything at night..

Yes thats the IR bouncing off objects too close to the lens. You are correct.

So much good advice here. Another advantage of having larger holes is that if you have to replace a cable, it is easier to pull a new wire through. Ethernet is the wave of the future. Wired cameras are always better than Wireless since all cameras have to have power anyhow. Also, POE is becoming a thing and future homes will have most of their lighting via POE. All of my homes have Cat6 and I have POE lights. The other big advantage of wired security cameras is that criminals are now getting Wi-Fi interrupters/blockers which negate the effectiveness of wireless cameras. You can’t disrupt the signal with ethernet cameras. The best piece of advice in this video is to reduce the number of connections. All of my security cameras are home runs from the video cam to the NVR.

It has much of its operation built into the camera but for full features it should be paired to an NVR, otherwise you have very limited recording and plate number storage capability. Thanks

I want a camera that can monitor outside but I am scared someone will steal it. Someone already stole my nice porch light. What do you think about a hidden or secret camera?
@BackstreetCamerasАй бұрын
If you position the right camera in the right location, it can be very difficult to steal, and if done right you'll have video if who stole the camera. In 33 years of experience I have seen the camera stolen maybe 5 times, its not very common. But it should be a concern to address when designing a system and choosing the right camera. For example, the security camera SimplySafe offers is actually a magnet connection from the camera to the mount. Sooo easy to steal; just hit the camera with a broom handle and it will pop right off the mount into your hand. Equipment matters!

My home security camera (Defender Guard) points at my driveway and the street in front of my house. All vehicle license plates are automatically blurred through the software (even when stationary). Do you think this is for legal reasons, and is there a way to turn that setting off so I can see the numbers? I mean, what's a security camera for?
@BackstreetCameras2 ай бұрын
The comical thing about this system blurring the plates is...the system as to be able to identify a license plate so it can blur it. Which means it has the ability to ID and record plates. They might require a software use payment to turn on plate capture. Just another way to up sell customers. Check our systems out, they capture plates with no blurring. www.Backstreet-Surveillance.com

I see where you say it may be an issue with the cameras at night getting enough power this may be why only one of my cameras work at night, but in the day time only two of them will work but I have to plug them one at a time. I have four cameras they all work but like I say only two at a time when I plug in an additional camera everything says no video. I have a 4 camera laview dvr system. Any idea whats going on with this? Thanks
@BackstreetCameras3 ай бұрын
Wow, I'm stumped. Ok, start over. Plug one camera in at a time, test the camera. If it works that means the camera is good and the cable is good. Unplug it and do it again with the next camera. Keep doing this with all four cameras (one at a time). If one does not come up then its the camera or the cable. Now plug one in at a time and wait for video. Then plug the next in and see if its stable. Keep going, if the system falters after a certain number of cameras, the NVR has a power issue and cannot support the cameras. Time for a new NVR if that’s the case. Good luck.

We'll if you cannot say anything good, don't say anything at all. With that thought as guidance, I can say there are not many systems that cost less that Cobra. When it comes to CCTV equipment, price is a direct indicator of quality and performance. Cobra is a consumer grade, price focused system.

I have an 8 channel Anne vision Cctv system for some reason 3out of 8 cameras are just showing the annke logo I've tried everything but no luck I tried to manage via my smartphone and it seems to be something to do with the front resolution as it says no camera but the cameras that work say pal and I'm unsure why the dead cameras won't let me change it to pal ????
@BackstreetCameras6 ай бұрын
PAL is for European applications. The cameras should be set to NTSC. But that not the problem. The 3 cameras showing the logo are simply not communicating. The logo shows the NVR is not detecting the cameras video feed or the channel is turned off in the software. Hope this helps.

You missed one point, If your hole is the size of cat wire, how do you get the terminator through that hole? Can it be cut and re terminated?
@BackstreetCameras6 ай бұрын
No, usually you drill a slightly larger hole. Or you can cut the cable, run the wire and crimp a new fitting.
Can you buy Porch Cam as a stand alone camera? None of the links work.

The max length run for cat 5 and cat 6 are both 100 meters (328 ft). Yes, reducing the number of termination points is beneficial but there are valid reasons to terminate at the wall and use patch cables. Especially if this is an area that sees a lot of activity with adds and changes.
@BackstreetCameras8 ай бұрын
We're going to disagree on the small points. Cat5 cable has 24 gauge wire, cat6 has 23 gauge wire. Since the copper is larger with cat6 the distance power can be sent is further. We support many DIY customers, we choose to be safe rather than sorry so we limit cat5 to 220 feet and cat6 to 300 feet. But all these rules go out the window when you are using our Cyber Secure NVRs. They have, right out of the box, the ability to send power and data 800 feet on cat 6 cable. So all common limitations go away with Cyber Secure. Here is the link for more info: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/cyber-secure-ndaa/cyber-secure-ndaa-security-nvr.html

Hi is a poe switch a power adaptor? And for a nvr that support 4 to 8 cameras does the nvr provide enough power/amp to 4 to 8 camreas or will s power supply be needed thank you
@BackstreetCameras8 ай бұрын
Its not actually an adapter but rather an injector. It induces power onto select conductors in network cable so you can power devices and transmit data all with one cable. Hope this helps.
