Nothing about rust protection, including any areas that are not accessible after it is assembled. Ideally the body should be dipped to get inside every nook and cranny, but short of that it needs to be sprayed with the proper rust protection in all areas. The Dynacorn bodies have a lot of raw metal in areas that cannot be seen.

Just bought a 1978 CJ7 I need it restored , but I would like a 6” suspension lift and or mixed with a body lift enough to clear 35s or 38s , need all interior redone ,dash all that stuff. Also it’s a 6cyl manual , has a dana 44 front and ford 9” rear. Would like to convert to Chevy 350 with an automatic and dual exhaust how do we get this done ?

Ok so if you end up sanding all the guide coat off . you're ready for paint? . if some stays you need more metal work there and repeat the process . right?
@JohnRussoPBC2 жыл бұрын
Direct998 , as your blocking the guide coat will stay in the low spots So pay attention as you sand when guide coat is gone feel the panel Also if you see lows that need more filler that would be the time to fill , sand , re prime When you block a panel And you have no low spots and it looks and feels right It’s ready for next coat Or sealer

At $20,000, compare it to buying and an average guy repairing a rusty body, you've got the cost of buying the rusty car, all the time it takes, the patch panels, the bodywork, cost of a welder and a plethora of tools. Plus, how much is your time worth? I'd snap a rusted to hell '70 Mustang and re-body it with one of these in a heartbeat, over trying to save a rotten body, been there, no thanks.

Nice job. Very clean. I'm wondering, are there any restoration shops who use Dynacorn bodies for their restorations but will build a 65-66 Mustang Convertible to look indistinguishable from the originals? I've never seen one. As much as I like Revology Mustang they go way over-the-top and the finished product doesn't look or feel like an original at all.

Of all the videos I’ve watched on this subject, you’re the first and only one to clearly and distinctly explain the blocking process when using dry guide coat. You actually explained to look for the blotches of guide coat powder to indicate “low areas” that require further sanding/blocking. Thank you for that simple and clearly explained tip! 👍

Carmelo M you got it brother happy it made sense

John, I’m working in a 2012 VW Passat that had a 12” long with about 3” long deep scratch( fingernail test) I sanded the scratch out applied some putty glaze to fill in deep scratch. Then Primer on about a 14” by 4” area. then base coat (spray can) started to run, which required me to start over from scratch ( no pun intended) Now if had to use 60 and 80 grit to remove paint and primer from run areas which has now expanded my work area beyond original scratch damage area. 🤷♂️. Now I have about 5 6 quarter coin size patches where metal is visible mixed with portions where original paint or recently added Primer was sprayed. My question is do I need to strip entire work area down to metal or can I just apply Bondo Filler to cover metal patches then apply Primer over entire paint area? Also, if I’m just removing scratches should one use Bondo Filler or Glazing Putty which may lay over primer/base sections? Or does one always have to remove all paint and primer by sanding down to metal?
@JohnRussoPBC4 жыл бұрын
Carmelo M well the short answer is you better off prepping the entire area and not using filler over paint we use a high quality filler and don’t use glaze “ once you get everything set ready for paint make sure your metal is warm as well as your paint and good to ya !

Can a classic unibody car's subframe/frame rail be replaced and welded to new floorpans ? Good video, interesting to see how unibody repair is done !
@JohnRussoPBC4 жыл бұрын
Jason yes the best way to install a frame rail on a unibody is to clamp the car on the unibody rack at the pinch welds to keep the passenger compartment square , I prefer to use zip screws and pre fit all panels including rails and floors and check all measurements before welding you can view more on this project palmbeachcustoms.com/back-original-1969-mustang-428-cobra-jet-restoration-naples/
