@@MrPedalpaddle complicated! I record the video on my phone using DolbyOn (or just phone video as I don't use the audio it creates) and at the same time higher quality audio using a mic plugged into my laptop. Then I upload / transfer everything to PowerDirector on my desktop for editing. I unlink the video audio from the video, delete and replace with the higher quality audio. Cascaded adaptors plugged directly into the camera body might be a bit vulnerable to getting knocked and snapped off. I wonder if you can get a short length of cable (female socket to male plug) from the adaptor that is closer to the camera into the camere itself, so the two-adaptor combination can be taped to something (part of the bike frame?) Or you could experiment with a totally separate sound recorder and sync them with a clapperboard, like TV and movie film crews used to do, and join them together in "post production". Nah, maybe that's a bit OTT!
@BevMattocksАй бұрын
Ha ha I did think of the latter - record audio onto my phone, then mix the audio / video tracks together but I'm aiming for ease of use / quick production, but I will experiment until I get the best combo 😁

What an enjoyable video! Finger did come fourth in 'The Prize Musick' competition in 1701, but that was in the final of the competition; the final four had beaten many other composers in order to have their pieces performed publicly. Very ambitious doing that journey. It is incredibly long and made worse by the number of stops. Particularly difficult in Cornwall where the line speed is lower. The section between Exeter and Penzance is excruciating. From Aberdeen you would have had six different drivers. That is how long it is.
@BevMattocks3 ай бұрын
Also both ends are still semaphore signals & signal boxes which must be so tricky for drivers - but I guess the drivers who cover those sections are well used to the old system? My guess at driver / crew changes would be: Edinburgh, York, Birmingham, Bristol and Plymouth? Am I right? Or Newcastle rather than Plymouth???

@@BevMattocks But not a train commuter doing an hour each way every day on overcrowded ancient rolling stock that was little better than a livestock wagon. Tube and bus means you had a relatively short commute within the greater London area. I have to admit that my local trains today (Southeastern) are a far cry from the 1970s and post covid with home working now the norm, amazingly empty. I still wouldn't take a long distance train journey in the UK though just for the journey. Quite frankly what is there to see between Aberdeen and Penzance? A train journey through the Alps with stunning scenery would make more sense. A personal favourite of mine is Kiruna, Sweden to Narvik, Norway. Why not give that one a try? @@grahamcook9289 I have been a commuter and I love the old trains ~ me and my mum were just talking about them the other day - fond memories. But I’ve definitely never done anything just for money and definitely not to pay a mortgage - having a roof over my head isn’t the most important thing in my life, which is probably why I’ve been homeless several times and lived on the streets twice. But that’s preferable to me than doing something I didn’t want to do, in exchange for money, which to me is a form of prostitution and that’s not for me. I value the things in life that money can’t buy even though I also love luxury first class travel. I guess I just love life and all the experiences rather than the things that money can buy.
