I agree with everything except the shaded sketch. I am a "happy clicker" - I click a lot with my mouse, if I click less or more than I should in a sketch - shaded sketch tells me I messed up. On the other hand, it is really annoying when I do contour within a contour, within a contour... things start to get dark. :D Thank you for the awesome video

for the first time dragging dimensions actually makes sense :D. thank you big time

I am interested how to get this rib done in onshape. As long as the rib does not go to the very top all works as expected. But when trying the top it errors.

I'm always losing my selection too. Also annoying is that mirror command defaults to part and doesn't remember that my last use was a feature mirror.

You go way too fast, guess this isnt a beginner tutorial and half the shit you do you dont say how, for example the VERY first thing u make a sketch and then somehow all the line and rectangle ect tools pop up at your cursor? no mention of how just rush through so quick i have to put u on .25x to be able to even know what your doing and still dont because no keys are shown and no explanation is given.
@TooTallTobyКүн бұрын
thanks dylan! I appreciate the compliment on the speed. That's actually a little slower than I usually go on a "speedrun" but I was trying to explain my thoughts along the way, to help the other Onshape users follow along. As you observed this might not be the best "beginners" tutorial - but if you like my style and run a query on youtube for "Toby Onshape Beginners Tutorial" you're sure to find a good one! Since you mentioned that it would be helpful to understand the shortcut keys I'm using, this one might hit the mark: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGTZeaWwlt2Ae6c And don't worry - if you keep practicing and keep hanging out here in the TooTallToby community, you'll definitely start seeing an increase in your own speed and efficiency! Good luck on your CAD journey!

7534.0638g This one was tuff but I finally got it. My plan was to create the doughnut first and then extrude the rectangle up to surface. Difficulties changed my mind and I followed Dom's process.

You should do an open invitation and invite the new kids like shapr3d for the competition. A push from TTT might encourage someone to join.

Thanks for the live solve on this part Toby. I would never have though of doing it that way. It is easy to just think of creating edge flanges because you are folding sheet metal as you would do for real.

I have struggled with OnShape so I'm wondering what the difference may be between OnShape and Alibre other than than cost? I currently use Shapr3D with a student license but need to find a replacement at some point. I've tried Plasticity (can't get on with that either) and Fusion etc is way too much for what I need. I have MOI3D but Shapr3D is much better and MOI3D interface seems dated. So I am still left looking for an alternative to Shapr3D. Also I assume you are using the PRO Version of Atom 3D?
