Magnificent singer, magnificent composer, magnificent album - one of my very favorites. Rest in peace, Jack, and sing with the angels and your fellow greats in heaven. We will not see your kind again.

This lovely, uplifting arrangement makes me want to hear everything by Michel Legrand. It is currently part of my exercise routine. Pure, undiluted JOY. <3 Thank you for posting this delight!
The romantic themes from this and the original Hammer Dracula are some of Bernard's best work

I found this record years ago while "midnight shopping" in an old house way out in the thickets. I'm 55 now, and was probably 16 at that time.. I played the song Over n Over!! Love your actual "mono record" post!! Sounds the way it did a hundred years ago on my turntable! Lol .. Thanks SO much !!

I loved this song during the mid-‘70s. Melissa Mackay’s voice just worked for me as a teenager. My mom had the Summer of ‘42 album that had this song on it and I listened to it often one summer, especially while I was reading or helping to clean the house. My mom always had a record playing while we did our Saturday morning cleaning. Michel Legrand was a special composer. He wrote so many of my favorites (The Summer Knows, Brian’s Song, The Windmills of Your Mind, Watch What Happens, What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life, and most of the songs from Yentl) and I play his songs on the piano often. Kudos to Marilynn and Alan Bergman who wrote so many beautiful lyrics to Legrand’s mesmerizing music.

For reasons I have never understood, you rarely see this on television anywhere. When I found the DVD by Indicator, I had to buy it. If you like this movie, this is what you need to buy. It's loaded with extras. The other thing that I have noticed is that the audience is divided by those who love it, and those who hate it. There is no middle ground. What REALLY sets it apart is the beautiful music score by Michael Legrand. Does anyone know if the soundtrack was ever released? I'd love to have it. By the way, the movie is pretty faithful to the book, sometimes word for word. The author, William Eastlake, actually served in the Army during The Battle of the Bulge. I've always felt he put what he saw, into the book. A must read!

If only before his death Sydney Pollack had done a director’s cut of this film with commentary. Tony Bill & Bruce Dern as of 2024 are still with us.

Horrid-jumbled and directionless. Faux piano concerto intro then falling into goo and corny sentimental drivel. The harmonic clashes are shocking. Did LeGrand play on the session? Yikes.

Je suis même pas né quand le film est sortie, j'entends parfois mes parents font des références au film, parcontre la musique du film a très bien voyagé à travers le temps, c'est un film assez triste parcontre, une dame qui préfère un vieux riche versus son pauvre jeune beau.
