I would add an additional 1.5 inches of length to the pipe to slip on a stainless steel hose clamp on each end of the pipe that will prevent the pipe from separating and extend the pipe's life for another year or two.

I did something similar on my 42" 3 stage snow blower since I have a gravel driveway...except instead of plastic, I used a line post for chinlink fence and cut a slot across the post to slip over the cutting edge of the blower. It worked great, and kept the blower from scooping up the rocks at the beginning of the season before everything freezes hard. Gave the blower away after my uncle took the lawn tractor earlier this year I didn't need the blower anymore.

Great ideal One thing I would add to that so that snow's not blowing up on you off the top of your blade is to take a semi mud flap you see on the side of the road, cut a strip of that hard plastic or rubber and bolt it on the top of your plow blade and that will keep that spray from blowing up on you

So you do not use the skids on the blade at all? I will go back and watch your other video. We have a long gravel/recycled black top driveway. I use a Zforce 500 with a 60 inch KFI .

No skids with the abs pipe. Hope it works for, the kfi plow is heavy as hell. I wonder if the abs pipe will wear fast with all the weight

Look for the V plow its made with wood timbers and eye hooks you drag depending how wide your drive is is how wide the plow needs to be, you pull it with log chains. Might have to add some weight. 2 passes one up, one back. Cost depends where you get the wood. Landscape timbers would work or old 2x10 that were used. This you would make.

Good idea by the way using a pipe. But say a set of 10" wheels attached like a zero turn mower would be better if they had a hight adjustment like a trailer tongue stand. Then you could set the blades height off the type of material your pushing from. Even grade a gravel driveway.
@bobbg9041
@bobbg9041 4 күн бұрын
Instead of shoes, or pipes, why not wheels? Look on youtube about wheels in place of slides on snow blowers, the slides wear down but they set a height to keep the plow blade from hitting the grounds surface, you could attach wheels that roll glide over an even surface and keep the blade up off rough surfaces, they will also work on lawns. And yes you can change the blades edge. Also you can use the blow to level out gravel and dirt.

Finally tried this today, got about 40 minutes of plowing done before it failed. Tubing cracked (ambient temps near freezing meaning a *warm* winter's day for Canada) and the bottom of the pipe almost worn thru. Next experiment will be with a metal pipe.

I am forever thankful to come across your post. I used 2 1/2” ABS and it slid across the ground like there was no rocks or stones in my driveway. I split the pipe using g my table saw, spread it so it was over the bolt heads and used my plastic mallet to get it on. Again thanks and have a great year.

So funny to see a atv in a pickup box with 6 or more ratchet straps hooked on the racks, and dune up as tight as thay will go. I have a diy atv deck with flip up side rails. I lock the brake, hook titanium chain on the atv receiver with 2 to 3 inches of slack to allow the supention to flex, and same to the front. 16 years, thousands of bush and highway miles. Had a couple of panic stops to, and never moves an inch

Is there a specic reason you plowed all the snow to the UP HILL side instead of to the DOWN HILL side of the road into the trees? When the smow melts it will run across and down the driveway then freezing making for some dangerous driving and stopping at the Cross Road at the bottom probably not going to happen unless your stopped when you crash into someone driving by!

Additionally this hack stops gouging into the gravel on the first couple of plows before the driveway is frozen, and stops you from peeling any adjacent grass or tearing up any flagstone walkways.

A friend introduced me to this hack about 8 or 9 years ago now after I complained about breaking another plow shoe. Works so well, and very durable, I’m still using the second one I installed. 2 tips, best way to cut the abs is on a table saw, bring the pipe indoors before you pound it on the blade. The first one I applied was sitting in the garage @ -30 C and it cracked.

@goodboyringo9716
@goodboyringo9716 8 күн бұрын
Great Ideal but ...Why not use a steel pipe ? Let it hang over on each side of blade . Drill hole in the pipe , use bolt to attach chain and run a chain to the top of the blade . Connect the top of the chain with two hooks , drill two holes in top of blade on each side. The steel pipe will last longer than plastic.
