I learned this trick with painting walls: to avoid the bleeding under the tape, try painting over the edge of the tape (the side that’s on the paper) the same color of the paper (most cases white), and wait till it’s dry.

Having just discovered you, I'm so glad you've just posted this new compil of tips, and yes, it's another really good one (I took notes). In answer to one of your questions, I find it's not so much about the price of the tape but the way you remove it. Use a hairdryer to heat up the glue as you are pulling the tape, slowly but firmly, so that you don't rip the paper. Instead of gloves, you can rub soap into your fingers and scratch a bar to get it under your nails before you start the session. Loved the advice about being selective when buying spray paint, I haven't got to that stage yet in my own work and it totally makes sense. Thanks again and a speedy recovery from the op. Looking forward to the next update :)

Thank you! The surgery DID go well and I can't wait to hit the studio again. Well... I think the more often we get out of the comfort zone the easier it gets! And it is a bit of a personality question - are you an adventurer who needs new input frequently, or do you like to rest in your safe space and prefer not to be "shaken up" all the time. I am somewhere in between that I believe. What prompted you to ask that I wonder?

@@katjart3649 So glad surgery went well. Hope you heal quickly. I asked about comfort zone because of something you said in your video. Some days I feel adventurous but most of the time my comfort zone wins out. I don't care for acrylic paints and actively avoid them. Not sure if this program would work for me. I have never done collage or abstract either. Oils are my comfort place.

Thank you! oh... so many layers. First just scribbles in the drawing layer, then acrylics for general shape and colour, then oil to enhance darks and lights... it wasn't a planned process, just intuition, just whatever seemed the best next step to get the effect I was looking for...😉

Wow, what a great compilation of tips! I love the employer/employee analogy, it will certainly bolster my employer's confidence to be more affirmative, especially in creating schedules, deadlines and limited session times. Speaking for myself, I know I only hit that sweet spot between "looseness" (as opposed to "carelessness") when I work at the "right" pace, and yes, music does influence that process. I'm sure you have a great future ahead of you so keep up the good work. Greetings from the south of France :)
@katjart3649
@katjart3649 24 күн бұрын
Oh I love comments like this, thank you! Yes, being employer and employee at the same time really is tricky and needs to be looked at consciously, right? And I love hearing that you know what I mean with looseness/carelessness. Yes! I have been experiencing that too, now that the pace has changed in the second part of the program (I'm about to release the next video), where they don't tell you so precisely how much time to use on a painting. My pace has slowed down, I am not rushing as much, and therefore am in much less danger of working carelessly.... Greetings to you, I bet you live in a beautiful spot, I love the south of France!

Awesome! Please don't feel that you are "failing" if you can't finish within a year, there is nothing wrong with that! @katjart3649
@katjart3649 24 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, it is possible, but depends a lot on where your priorities in life are. And this is said without judgement - if you have other things and living beings that demand your attention aside from making art, it doesn't mean you can't be an artist or can't do the mastery program. But it means that maybe you do it in a longer timeframe, which is entirely possible. I also answered you on Insta, but I thought other people might be interested in this question, too.♥️

It was very interesting and helpful to hear your thoughts and insights on the program. I just did the charcoal perspective city last night and am about to start the city painting next. Your came out great and also, I actually liked your graphite drawings, maybe just the darkest darks need to be a little darker. But the drawing all looked great and in proportion etc. Keep it up :o) Maybe I'll see you on Art Social.
@katjart3649
@katjart3649 Ай бұрын
Oh thank you so much! I'll try to find you on Art Social! Yea, the graphite is also REALLY hard to photograph, isn't it? Too shiny... So I agree the darkest darks could be darker, but that is hard to get even, and I also think it IS darker, but just doesn't show up that way in the photo. And if I press really hard, I get "creases" in the paper, which I also really don't like. I'll work on making friends with graphite, maybe just not in realism 😅. Have fun with the program!
@TonyQuinn-Art
@TonyQuinn-Art Ай бұрын
@@katjart3649 Yeah, I don't like photographing graphite drawings. They do always look shiny. I actually love charcoal though and it's so forgiving to use. For graphite I just find I need to slowly build up layers to the darker darks. Gradually building it up, so not too heavy on the paper. I also like using black pan pastel which comes out lovely and contrasty. Have fun with the program. I'm sure we'll have lots of ups, downs and also good and not so good surprises along the way.

Trees are a living thing. They grieve for one another, like if someone cut down the tree next to it, they will grieve. They also warn each other , by releasing sap. It was amazing to learn about trees. So you go ahead and hug them. I might too.
@katjart3649
@katjart3649 Ай бұрын
Yes!!! I know... I read amazing things about trees and even talked to a woman who teaches how to communicate with plants... trees are very much their own personalities and souls, separately, but also as a whole (forest, community of several plants...). We are really blind, there is so much other life and communication going on on this planet! You should DEFINITELY hug trees. It has always given me so much strength.

Thank you for your honesty! Self doubt and the fear of being exposed are two things I (likely a lot of us) am working through as well. So often we do not enter the realm where we need to critically look at those two prisons. It is a good thing to move through them and beyond. Even if, perhaps, we may not ever completely “arrive” at a free space in that. Progress is a goooood thing.
@katjart3649
@katjart3649 Ай бұрын
Oh I just love this comment, thank you so much! Yes, absolutely... and I love how you call them "prisons" - they truly are limiting and poisonous, and I make it a point to be courageous as well as authentic about it. It motivates me to share my progress also because I truly hope to encourage others to do the same - freeing ones true nature is amazingly rewarding.
