Fantastic video! Totally spot-on. My facelift 2.7 is my pride and joy, and I shall never part with it. Do I care about its resale value? Not by a bit. Maintenance costs are ludicrous when done through the dealer or even a specialist, but I do all the maintenance myself, saving me heaps of money and with all the TLC I give it, it's probably the most reliable and rewarding car I have owned.

Dilemma we will all face at some point. My view is that if £2.5k will give me another few years of ownership then if I have the money I would do it and keep it on the road. I have a 996 cab and in my mind £3k per year to keep it going is acceptable. These are old cars and they wear out but new cars are expensive, boring and soulless.

Really good video, well edited. Good background music. Nice drone shots, also really creative with the car mounted shots. Well done, subscription deserved. (3.2's are still better :D )

Great first video! Just bought my first boxster, 986 2.7 liter like yours. 86k miles and only a few issues so far (coolant pump leak, RMS, both slow), so hoping it has a good bit of life in her! Really is an amazing car, my first manual as well (American). May yours rest in peace.

ive been watching and reading your posts since the early days of micol, its great to see the progress!! storytelling that rekindles my fondness of cars every single time, stoked for the next one
@drew6994 сағат бұрын
986 is a great car but a 2.7 is just too slow at 0 to 60 in 6.5. The 2.7 is under powered. The car is too heavy & too much of a tourer rather than a real sportscar.

Brilliant pal. Have you sent the bbc a link on the off chance they want to resurrect top gear?

This gives me crazy early 2000s British car show nostalgia. Fifth Gear vibes or the first few years of the rebooted Top Gear

Labours of love rarely make financial sense, but when a car endears itself to you in the way that you say that this Boxster has, you have to look past the money and into your heart. It's like your family pet, in a way. If your dog gets sick, you could replace it for a few dollars, or perhaps even for free, but instead you happily pay far more to the veterinarian to nurse your best friend back to health so you can enjoy many more years together. This Boxster is that dog. Don't put it down. Great first video, by the way. Thanks to the algorithm for the suggestion. Subscribed.

It's ridiculous to compare maintenance costs on cars like this with it's resale value. The UK is in the unique position to have these cars be really affordable because nobody can really import them driving prices way down. You're buying a fucking Porche for what barely buys you a used base model Golf in Europe. If that's not value for money I don't know what is.

One of my favorite videos ever, I’m glad KZbin recommended it. My first car was a 2.5 in the same shade of silver with a 5 speed. It will forever hold a special place in my heart and even after all these years and driving many other cars, this thing still remains at the top of the most satisfying driving experiences ever to own/drive. Earned a sub for sure.

Have owned a boxster and 3 Mx-5s……price independent they are a formidable alternative…..boxster is better in some fairly obvious ways but the Mx-5 is much more playful and flingable. If you want to consider “value”, it’s not even close. The Mx-5 feels almost free in comparison to buy and run.

They are severely underrated. I bought one for cheap and have spent far more than the value of the car getting it back to good condition. Lots of little niggles that just come with age and some boxster woes but it really is the best value for money. I do find the front end a little floaty/light though. That flat 6 just sounds glorious, the intake behind the ear is magnificent.

Awesome video - start of something special here - keep down to earth and you’ll fly. Still seems terrible it’s being scrapped - experience tells me there’s always a better value option to fix up/keep going a car like this and values will rise. The issue is if everything gets left over time, when items should be fixed and the overall cost becomes scary. I bet if this was put away for 12-24 months you’d be getting it back to the road?

Great premier. One tiny point, is the narration a little faster than the Ig TT videos? Your voice seems a little higher and speaking a little quicker. The calm gentle style of your voice over is a trademark worth keeping. Could be my old ears. Many thanks Michal.

I think the Boxster is a perfect Porsche, from the beginning they will teach you how to be a better driver, take care of the car among other things... I've never driven a Boxster, but I hope to drive one soon... It's sad to be the end of this Boxster, but its purpose was carried out successfully! Btw another great video Mike! 👏
