if your motherboard supports nvme, then yes. If you have a m.2 ssd slot on your motherboard it will work, if not, you are gonna have to do some research on your motherboard

might be a necro or a whoosh but you use a flat head to pull the (black) plastic pins out and pinch the (transparent) plastic legs while pushing it out. Had the same issue before too

the sata ssd is only at 560mb/s but if you use the M.2 ssd to Pcie x1 adapter its around 800+mb/s im also planning to buy an adapter because my motherboard only have 1 m.2 slot

i have same motherboard. i am also confused between m.2 nvme and sata ssd. I have seen videos of testing m.2 nvme on pcie gen 2 x1 slot which gives around 450mbps which is equivalent to 2.5 inch sata ssd but our motherboard has pcie gen 3 x1 slot which will give around 900mbps speed. Still it will not run at it's full speed.

I realize this was 5mo ago, but, if you still haven’t figured it out (for other people I suppose if not) there is a little brass post by the I/O shield of the card with a screw in it on the bottom side (on the side of the actual PCIE connector) unscrew that and slide it onto your SSD’s screw slot, lay it flat on the board, and then screw it back in from the bottom.

Its basically the speed which the nvme is produced vs this speed in pcie x1 dor every type of nvme.

Dont know if im too late, but the maximum lanes a samsung 980 pro ssd supports is x4. if you put it on an x4 adapter and put it in a gen 2 slot, the max speed you can get is around 2GBS. itd be a waste for a 980 Pro, but could work well for a cheaper pcie gen 3 ssd.

@@klym8_ Sorry for the late reply. You'd get around 500 MB/S. PCIE gen one was limited to around 250 MB/S, and with each new generation, the bandwidth doubled per lane. Then you take the speed of whatever PCIE gen you are using and multiply it by the number of lanes being used.

depending on your processor it may start to struggle.

My SSD runs Windows 11 Pro with 5-10MB/s, it's almost dead and I still use the computer. Since I don't have a job to buy a better SSD. You will run w11 without problems, don't worry. My case is special, I have an i510400f and rtx2060 with 16gb ram. You will be able to run Windows 11 without problems, I have lagging problems in the interface, but I can still use programs and games since I have them stored on my HDD which runs them at 100MB/s.

You may wonder, why don't you change the operating system to the HDD so that it works better? Well because I don't have internet to download all my stuff again. I browse with my mobile data. Here you will wonder, how do you have a PC this good if you can't even afford WIFI? I bought my PC when I had a job, since I was a child it was my dream and I managed to raise money to buy it. Now I don't have any more work, I haven't gotten one yet. And next year I will study again. My PC was bought assembled so components such as RAM, power supply and hard drives are not that good. Since where I bought it didn't specify its brand or anything. It was my mistake for having bought it like that but I was in a hurry and I wanted to fulfill my dream. Now I only regret the SSD, since the rest works fine. I just hope I can buy a good SSD to stop suffering from lags. Don't pay attention to the previous comment, you will run Windows 11 without problems. Unless your other specs are bad. It depends more on your cpu.

@@DaleEarnhardtsSeatbelt That's true. They're also more expensive and not everyone needs data center level write endurance. The write endurance on my Crucial P3 Plus 4TB nvme drive is 800TB (TBW) which is an insane amount of data.

It's useful for when you have used all the x16 slots and you only have x1 slots left
