It depends on which model you buy. Like any fan, the lower the sones, the quieter. However, the higher the CFM, the more noise it will make, potentially

What ashame that they couldn't salvage the arches, that's what made the home. The home had class before, now it's just like the rest of the modern homes, nothing special a whatever home. I don't understand why people think that modern is prettier or better. The color is pretty, and it would have looked prettier with the original architectural.

Best downdraft gas range for my kitchen island?
@contactrenovations
@contactrenovations 6 ай бұрын
There are too many variables to call one specific unit without knowing the parameters of your kitchen layout, cabinet configuration, appliance spec, and what you actually need. I think the main thing to identify is how many CFM you need based on what cooktop/range you have, in conjunction with where you need to mount the blower. There are some great models out there, but some have limitations for where and how the blower can be mounted. Also, like anything, quality on the components and moving parts can vary, so I would suggest, sticking with brands that are tried and true.

@@contactrenovations thank you for your detailed reply! I appreciate it! Are the downdraft ventilation systems built in the gas ranges or are they two separate purchases?
@contactrenovations
@contactrenovations 6 ай бұрын
@@irenegann it’s a separate appliance. And, when buying a downdraft unit, you need to verify whether or not the blower is included with the purchase. Not such a big deal when you buy one at a store with a sales person as they would clearly explain this to you, but if you buy a downdraft unit online, sometimes it’s not always clear whether the blower comes with it or not.

Question: Does this merely capture some or all of the grease that it sucks in, returning the filtered air into the ambient air in the room? Or doews it vent it through a duct to the outdoors?

Hi Alan, hope you can help me. So, I want to get a downdraft for the wife but I’ve yet to see how it vents the actual smoke or where it goes to. I’ve heard you still have to take it to a vent that goes outside ? Or you can have a Carbon filter next to a cabinet with filters. Please help. We don’t want the one you have to vent it outside. Help. Thank you And do you know any 4-5 stars rating. I don’t want one that will break down because I heard the cost to fix them might be expensive?
@alanknight7526
@alanknight7526 Ай бұрын
@@cristnuishope I am no expert, but after a good deal of reading, I would say any system that does not vent to the outdoors is inferior to those that do. And of those that do, there are still issues, anyway. If the vent is near a window, especially if it is under a window, the window will constantly get a greasy film on it. If it is unvented it is merely sucking the greasy air through a filtered. It's better than nothing, but not much. The only way to avoid all that us to cook anything greasy outdoors on a grill or outdoor oven of some sort.

What’s the cost for all this? Ballpark. I need to budget. Thanks.
@contactrenovations
@contactrenovations Жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, It is tough to provide a ballpark without knowing the layout of your home. There are many factors that will determine the ease or difficulty of the project. Specific items that often contribute to a higher project cost would be the plumbing and electrical requirements. For example, if your new laundry location happens to back onto an existing bathroom, this can simplify things. However, if there aren't any other plumbing elements in the area you want to move the laundry, this can jack to price way up. The other factor is whether or not the space below the new laundry area is finished or not. If you're moving it to the main floor and the basement is unfinished, this again makes things alot easier. But, if it's a finished space below, you might need to open up a bunch of walls/floor/ceilings and repair them. Anyhow, if I had to provide a general price range to budget for this, I'd say around $10-$20K. I know that's a wide price range, but without knowing the details of your home & project, I can't be more specific. Hope that helps!
