Oh my god, Guy literally nailed it at the end where he gives his reason as to why SH2 has become so personable to all of us who have carried that game with us for many years. I could never answer properly whenever a friend or relative would ask me "why do you like such a horrific/terrifying game" and I've wanted to say that the silence/isolation feel in the game kind of made mine feel less severe in a way. Almost like it made it bearable in some way and i found comfort in that.

@NietrTM Sorry for the late response. We did a podcast with Guy and his daughter Frankie back in 2019, and this is a small clip of the whole podcast. The original timeline for the video is located on a hard drive, and when I export it into Premier, it has a bunch of missing segements, so I decided to post some clips from it instead.

One of the most powerful portents of this song is that it speaks not only to the nature of life and living it, but living it with a personality disorder that distorts the world around him into a passing facade of what it could be, memory a hole of what is in front of him. It tells of the complexity of a mind not even old enough to understand itself, and yet recognizing what it means to struggle with grasping at things most of us will never know. Going on 30, I look back at this song with all of the endeavor it wants me to, and beyond that it is one of my favorite songs in any genre. Every line stands out above the last in an infinite spiral, until the song ends almost unceremoniously just as life often does, fading into a drop of tone that matches the feeling of the music that precedes it.

Fellow spice enthusiast here, and I would not call Stilgar loyal at all. Faith should be a better word for it, I guess, kind of like Morpheus' faith in Neo - both had doubts along the way. They had faith, and they were loyal to an idea, not a person. Should Paul/Neo have died (riding worm or fighting agent Smith), Stilgar/Morpheus would probably have had to get back to searching for a new chosen one. Gurney, on the other hand, is representation of dog kind of loyalty, and if we're sticking to this definition of loyal, then Gurney is the more and only loyal character to Paul.
@Birbologist7 ай бұрын
While Gurney's loyalty to Paul is personal and unwavering, Stilgar's loyalty encompasses not just Paul but also the larger vision and future of the Fremen people. Stilgar's loyalty is multifaceted. He not only follows Paul but also integrates Paul's vision into his leadership of the Fremen. This kind of loyalty requires a deep commitment to both an individual and an ideal, which can be seen as a more comprehensive form of loyalty. Stilgar's loyalty involves significant personal sacrifices and strategic thinking to ensure the survival and prosperity of his people.

Yayy new video
@NadiaYC19988 ай бұрын
I think Gurney is actually more loyal to Paul. When Paul drinks the Water of Life, we can view this as the death of Paul Atreides and the birth of the Kwisatz Haderach. Stilgar may be more loyal to Paul, but that’s because of what Paul has been transformed into, not because of Paul himself. Now if you ask who is more loyal period, sure Gurney’s your guy. But Stilgar’s loyalty to Paul is not loyalty to Paul, but rather loyalty to his religion and his cultural identity.
@Birbologist7 ай бұрын
That's an interesting point, but I think Stilgar's loyalty to Paul goes beyond just his transformation into the Kwisatz Haderach. While it's true that his transformation is a significant factor, Stilgar's loyalty is deeply intertwined with his personal respect for Paul as a leader and a person. His loyalty begins even before Paul's full transformation. He recognizes his potential and leadership qualities early on, which earns his respect and dedication.
