This is so great!! I’m normally quite sceptical about these things (and my ADHD makes it hard for me to sit through long videos) but this is utterly fantastic. What a brilliant mix of a panel that has been chaired really well. I really appreciated Kate bringing up some of the harsher realities of neurodevelopmental disabilities in a way that made them feel valid whilst having that necessary lining of hope. Being able to say, ‘Yes this is shit, but I’m going to get through it.’ instead of ‘Oooh this is all wonderful and I’m different and special so should only see the bright side.’ is such a refreshing change of pace from the current trends of discussion. I thought the suggestions brought up by Kate and Melanie were fantastic. So often you hear the same things at study skills sessions and these methods developed through experience are truly invaluable. Thank you so much to everyone involved for your eloquence and compassion, it goes a long way towards making people feel seen 🩷

I booked this event few weeks ago, then last Tuesday accepted a last minute chance to start a health and safety course at East Surrey collage induction, then remembered i booked this. Got little stressed made my self late, rushed to collage on my bike which pulled a ligament i felt the next day, so could not get there this Monday to start. I did all this to myself.

My Degree is for me and not going to be for work. Is collaboration more in the Science and Business and Law Modules than the Arts and Humanities?

I got in touch with my Tutor to introduce myself, really informal. I have studied with the OU before and feel comfortable doing this and i have written it so that she doesn't need to reply immediately.

I have done an access course YO33 Science Technology and Maths course. I started in February this year and my last EM/TMA04 and my portfolio and my online Questions went in on the 12th September. Now I am waiting for my results. I like doing the access course because it gave me more Confidence and I was not that great at maths but I did try all the maths. So far I have 22% marks for my online iCMA so waiting for my portfolio and my EM/TMA04 result. I hope I can go on to do a BA Honours degree in Health and social care and a wellbeing course next year in February. I have not learned anything since I left School in 1975 and all I did before I left School I did just CSA Exams at all had for myself. I got married in September 1986 I had 4 children so had all my mind on the children and they are all grown up now and have there only family my marriage came to the end back in 2014 so I am divorce now. I have Crohn's and diabetes and partly sighted and deaf in one ear. I have fatigue every day. My IBD Nurse encouraged me to do something because I don't go out with my Crohn's and I suffer with mental health as well so my IBD Nurse encouraged me to do something. So I decided I would like to do a university Course. A young lady spoke to me and suggested I do a university course. So I spoke to a young lady and she suggested I did the Access modules of Science Technology and Maths course YO33 also and I hope I will get to do another Course BA Honours degree in Health and social care and wellbeing. I enjoyed everything I did it for myself I hope my marks will be 23 % present because I have already been marked with 22% so if I get 23% I will be jumping for joy. Because I loved doing this course. Hope I get good results with the rest of my EM/TMA04 and my Portfolio. I should hear about the 20-26 of October.

Just about to do my final EMA for DD126. The subject's content has been very interesting and relatable considering current events. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in social sciences, the world in general, business etc. Mathematics involved is very basic too.

Idea** Create a Simulated platform Where students build an avatar and they can journey through the scenario, walk through spaces approach other students avatars and select to join a chat .where the group of students take part in a chatroom. The platform could have different rooms or levels for people wanting to find others with like minded interests

I did an OU degree between 1991 and 1996 when I had a new baby, and a 7 year old. I was also working part time. I returned to OU study when I had a baby grandson in 2019, and then had a year out as I now have two grandchildren! This year continuing studying but it will still be a challenge with family commitment. During the break, I have been trying to enhance my skills ready for the next course. This time has been very useful for preparing the next challenge! I am going to keep going with the OU indefinitely now!

This has been so so helpful for me - I was questioning my normal and realise what has been spoken about is not everyone is perfect and organized with high scores. However, it is the process of learning that is more important!! Lovely to see you Isabella - you’ve been on so many of my science module tutorials. Great to see the real people behind the OU ❤️👍

My confusion is whether to study criminology or forensic psychology… they seem the same on the surface. Locally social workers and substance abuse recovery support are two career routes that are sought after so I’m aiming for one of these degrees to appeal to them (excluding additional training, Masters, etc).

I need to do this module as compulsory as part of my degree and I was very daunted by the description online and even been rigorously thinking about how I can avoid it. I am 7 minutes in to this video and my thought process is rapidly changing. It sounds interesting so far.
