808s aren't the only reason why rap is dying. It's also: 1. Absolutely awful mumble flows (Lil Yachty and Young Thug make me want to rip my ears off) 2. Incredibly bland and simplified beats everyone is using since 2016 (Started by 21 Savage and Future) 3. There is very little variety in rap music - it's either dumb trap or boring lyricist songs, there aren't any fun bangers, it's always these two styles!

0:06 If you want to talk about dying genres, alternative music is at almost at a complete commercial nadir after the “runaway” success of Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves”. Like we got solo artists like Hozier & Noah Kahan, but not real bands having hits in the genre, & it’s not like the genre hasn’t been the most left-of-the-dial genre, it’s just that there’s been no crossover hits.

The whole entire issue with this argument is that is specifically focused on mainstream music and not the genre as a whole, you can't say hip-hop and 808s are boring and then describe only trap beats as why they're boring. It literally contradicts your argument.

1. Hip hop isn't dying. Every genre is just being outcharted by country. And most of it is country with trap beats. 2. Skinny jeans weren't popular until the 2000s. 3. Lex Luger created the blueprint for trap beats, not Kanye. "808s and Heartbreak" doesn't have any of the signature hi hat patterns and isn't even the right BPM for trap. 4. For the love of god, get a pop filter.

Bro 808s have been used in so many distinct ways you got daft punk(when working with ye and the weeknd) ye death grips ecco2k carti and even arca fka twigs and so many others with very distinct sound, they all used 808s, its just an instrument that can be used well or be used poorly, it doesnt limit anything, plus when it comes to sound design 808s have a lot of variation

Juice WRLD's signature sound wasn't the 808, even though it was a part of the majority of his songs. He had also already debuted before he ever did a collab with Travis Scott. pushing the sound to the limit isn't what defines the quality of music. Music can be viewed in a monotone, scientific manner: as nothing more than "brain likey pattern, brain likey when good sounds come together after bad sound" But in reality, music allows us the express the very essence of our souls. That's what a good artist is, someone who manages to show their souls to people without holding back, or hiding anything.
@W.I.L26
@W.I.L26 29 күн бұрын
@@justyouraveragehumanbeing7411 I agree with this entirely... But at the same time the music of today wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of musicians yesterday... The main goal was to make better music than could communicate their will better to the listeners... That purpose requires innovation after innovation and running away from stagnant waters... The amount of feeling we can get today from a song is only possible because someone else in the past worked hard to ask questions and find answers to those questions... But what do you think tho? Thank u so much for ur comment

@@W.I.L26 I agree that innovation is important, but even still I believe that being true to yourself is more important.
