The frame interpolation plugin seems interesting, i wonder if it could be used as a better version of twixtor (like less warping and maybe smoother results)

since topaz version 2 or 3 i saw it as a better option over twixtor. just twixtor works faster. I have a separate render PC should i ever need to batch these things.

I have watched over a dozen videos on this monitor and nobody-I repeat-nobody has shown the scaling effect that you show at 5:07. Bravo for this demonstration, it was extremely helpful. 10:24 you forgot to move the preview slider hence no changes but otherwise great tut! My favorite settings are 2k or 4k upscale/Artemis-MQ/Recover Detail set to 0 and I get a lovely result no matter how low the resolution is or how bad the quality is.

I'm lost, I bought a new computer and updated fcp to (10.8), I then returned the new Computer and started using my old computer with (10.6). Now the 2# FCP Library's I updated to (10.8) I can not access because they were updated with a newer version 10.8 of FCP. Can I get into them Libraries on my 10.6 FCP Computer ??

You could try the backups in the Users folder on your system disk. Select "GO" in main menu when in the Finder. select "Computer" > Macintosh HD > Users folder, > Movies folder, > Final Cut Backups folder.

There is a LOT you didn't mention and should warn people about! After the upgrade I loaded an old project that was finished. Made a duplicate before I started. Nearly all mu music I used turned red (missing file) all the crossdisolve I used turned red (missing file) cross dissolve has dissapeard from 10.8!! All the text I used turns red, disappeared from 10.8 as-well!! So a finished project changed in another 7 hours work, to get it going again!

@@VideoTutors After consulting the Apple helpdesk (thank you so much for the exelent help!) i found out it is VERY important that BEFORE you update to version 10.8, you should update the MacOS to version 17.5!!! After i did that i put back my old version of FCP, then ran the update 10.8 and now everything is back the way it should be! Not one "missing file" errors anymore.

Yes transitions can be added at both ends but you need the shorten the length of the compound clip after you add it to the timeline at least by the amount of timeline space that the transition takes up. If you intend to use a transition it pays the make the compound clip a little longer than you need. Or you maybe able to build the transition into the group of clips before you compound them. I’ll have test that as I’m not sure what will happen. You could try it though no harm done

I deleted preferences then fixed the destinations. I got the Master File Export Working, but I cannot "share a current frame." It says "Share Successful" then the single frame is not there. Its never failed before.

That's strange. Try saving the frame to another disk location. I assume you have re-booted the computer

Will this work if I have footage from various sources, some of which are HDR from an iPhone , and others are SDR? I'm a fairly beginner video editor, really just editing home videos for my family, so we have a mix of iPhone, GoPro, as well as other cameras. If it is only a few frames that you need to extend than slow the music clip by pressing Command "R". FCP will retain the pitch unless yu slow too much. Otherwise you could copy and paste some of the music track and match the waveforms

Crap way of doing it as in Filamora wondershare you just click on the music icon go to the time line and stretch it as long as you like takes seconds. Same as Text Im struggling with text on final cut pro takes hours where as again in Film its seconds. So i may well be going back to Fil the sound is the thing for me a lot better in FINAL CUT PRO. thanks anyway.

Thank you Bruce. I would be interested in seeing your follow up to this comparison of video enhancement applications. For about three years I have used Topaz Labs' Video AI. A major selling point for me is the customer support and regular updates to their software. It isn't clear which company released their product first. However, it is fair to say they are equally competitive in their online advertising presence. Topaz' Video AI V.5 offers not just superb time remapping but frame interpolation models. The frame interpolation works well as a follow-up pass to changing the output speed of video.

Peter, I have used many of the video enhancement packages on offer, and more come to me on a regular basis for reviews and I find they are much the same - Topaz does have the edge, and is getting quicker all the time. Version 5 is a big update as you mention. i have two companies that are asking me for a review at present. I hope to put sioke time aside to compare them.

If you have image + wireframe enabled in your canvas you can control-click on the keyframes and choose ease in/ease out then play with the bezier handles which will drive you nutty. If you are key framing form the motion tab in the viewer, you can control click on a keyframe and choose smooth and play with the bezier handle which will drive you nutty. here is more useful way (answer) from Creative COW - works better for me

If with all the innovations new entrants like CapCut are bringing into their video editing app, Davinci Resolve and Premiere Pro too are breaking new grounds, it will be a huge disappointment if this is all the next version of FCPX is promising. I’m talking about tangible improvements to the NLE. Not all this tiny improvements here and there. What happened to native transcription in FCPX? Why do I have have to move to a 3rd Party app to get transcription or study rocket science to achieve a simple transcription as it’s done in CapCut, Resolve and Premiere Pro? FCPX team should just wake up, they are always late to the party. They should get us features and make the application great again. 😡

They bought Final Cut Pro because they needed to keep the Professional Market at that time. The only thing keeping them afloat was the Pro market and people who wanted to own the machines the Professionals use. But Apple became a lifestyle brand and lost the Pro market. I paid for Final Cut Pro back in 2015 and have never paid for an upgrade, so all in all it's a fine editor. It'll never be great.

Correction: frame blending and optical flow do not produce slow motion. You need to make a clip slow motion first with the speed settings and then the frame blending and optical flow changes how the extra frames are interpolated.

I can't confirm yet as 10.8 has not shipped, but my opinion is that it will support MV HEVC. Currently Quicktime does not support Spatial Video, so unless there is a macOS update, Spatial Video is not likely to be supported in Final Cut Pro.
