I crashed at Vicky’s one night and awoke to see John Kay rooting through his duffle bag. He had a beat-up Gibson acoustic guitar. Over a coffee later, Vicky told me Neil Young had my spot on the floor the night before. I became friendly with Kay and recall him joining the Sparrow after the band fired their singer, Jack London. They had been telling folks in the Village they were from England; they were from Hawkesbuy, Ontario. They affected English accents and wore the trendy Carnaby Street fashions of the time. There were many talented (often homeless) musicians around: Peter Martilla, Ray Bennet and Craig Black come to mind. I joined the Original Upper Canada Ragtime Mama Jug Band with Mendelson Joe, Daisy Debolt and Randy Torno, among others. Folks told me they could hear the washtub bass up and down Yorkville. I met Mendelson Joe when I rented a room on Admiral Road. I was told it had been occupied by Zal Yanovsky before he went South. Gone are the days . . .

Now he’s a total leftist who preaches to regular working people about how money isn’t everything. Donate it Neal!
@ranaldthurgood48756 күн бұрын
He's donated a great deal of money, including funding a school for autistic children, in whom he took a personal interest. He is also employing quite a few people. When he does charitable works, he doesn't have a publicity agent to let everyone know.

@ he’s al leftist. Communist, but yet he keeps making money off his music. He recently got pissed off at Trump and took his music off . Then he realized he wasn’t making money anymore. He’s a phoney like John Lennon . Preaching to poor people while enriching himself. He also made money off the 4 students killed in Ohio protesting the Vietnam war. I lost all respect for him. He has great talent but a total phoney from Hollywood ☹️

Love to you Mr Plewman. Sadly Missed, you were a fixture on my new music on Channel 79
If I had encountered this upon arrival, I would have lost my mind. I'm a massive fan, and Brian Connelly is a huge influence on me as a guitarist. So cool.

corrections # 2 & 3: there're more than 8o works included, not all of which would fall under the category "poetry"
@jwc3o2Ай бұрын
correction #1, re "unpublished": very many of the works in this collection have been previously published in many forms ranging from obscure private editions (including both bp & Ellie's christmas "cards") to inclusion in the McClelland & Stewart selected "An H in the Heart". some simple research could've prevented this (let's call it a) misrepresentation.

The riff, the lyrics, the whole band performance... if you looked up criminally overlooked in the dictionary, its the ARSON band.
