Palm down is still the hardest part for me because I'm focused on pushing off with my back leg I forget to relax my wrist. 😊

What is your grip style? Western forehand? I don't know if they still call it that. I prefer one hand back hand. Can generate lots of power or spin.

two different balls. one is deeper than the other. hence one is taken off higher bounce. pretty misleading video so not apple to apples

50 year old slice, technique, obsolete. Federer has modern slice. This instructor should stay in 1974, where she belongs

Great video! If you have a tight serving shoulder, are there any exercises to get to the racquet drop?

Wow ! Thanks for the analysis ! I always liked him, and amazed by his forehand and footwork also. I know people are telling that it's a boring player only hiting forehand... but damn at his place i'll do the same ! That's an amazing weapon... and it make him an intelligent, patient and court wise player. The way he construct points is also 🤯 ! I don't know, maybe you need to understand better the tennis to enjoy him play, and seing all those details ! And also I like what Roddick has said about those FH with huge topspin... with the camera angle that we have on TV it's difficult to appreciate the quality of the shot. He said that this way the ball seem ordinary... but in fact the ball come to you with a lot of rotation and bounce over your shoulder !! This is difficult to return cause it's lead to: having to jump more high to hit the ball, hiting the frame of the racquet, hiting the ball with loss of control over it !! I really like Casper's forehand... 😍Nadal too is similar by the way !

I agree with everything you say. If you ever have the chance to watch these guys live you get a completely different appreciation about how the play. And modern tennis is all about the forehand.

@@MeikeBabelTennis I do have seen Rafa in 2019 in Montréal ( Rafa vs Evans and Shapovalov vs Thiem). I was sitting close and directly face to the baseline so I've seen Rafa running straight to my face !! It's was on another level !! Rafa is just huge ! He seems to play every point like his life depend on it, and between the points, the mentality is 🤯 ! I'll try to see Casper this summer in Montréal. 🤞

This is so helpful, Meike. What is frustrating is that I have the correct grip but somehow end up with the waiter's tray midway through the serve. I will try these exercises. One question: does it help to have a toss lag? Instead of tossing the ball at the same time as getting into the trophy position, does it help to separate out the two actions so one can concentrate on leading with the edge?
@MeikeBabelTennis
@MeikeBabelTennis 2 күн бұрын
You can separate them to work on each part in an isolated way. Later on, I would try to get them in sync again.

6.02 and 6.13 my wrist is in front of my right shoulder and over my right hip :):):) so you arm actually pointing straight forward to the net which is BS and the reason why your BH has no power !!!!! Its NOT like you say at 6.42 shoving something heavy away you get behind it and push !! well we dont push ower BH but we swing at ower BH !!! The position you actually show at 6.28 is EXACTLY the place where you want to hit the ball: ALL the pros try to hit the ball in that 45 degree angle and NOT in that 90 degree ( arm straight forward ) like you asking to. Again a disapointing explanation from an ex proplayer who knows how to hit a ball but has no clue , but is laughing with other coaches like PM

Nice video! arrived here after being lobbed to death of course... Was doing all the hard work, hitting nice approach shots or even going for the winner but my opponent was too fast and too good at lobs. So he killed me, not by winning so many points but mentally and physically (not easy to run forth and then back liek crazy, 10 times in a set and lose 8 of these points). So , i realised i was doing something wrong, it was too obvious that i was asking to be lobbed. Next time i will keep in mind to stay further from the net as you proposed and then of course train my overhead that is much more difficult than most recr players think.

Delbonis is another player with an abbreviated motion. Then there was Jay Berger from the 1980s who had a pretty powerful serve.

Funny, with my struggling to learn to serve, I take racquet with a continental grip and dangle it behind my head. As ball drops, I hit the ball. I’ve been getting in the box most of the time. This racquet drop is something pros do for more power, but they are doing it in a fast S motion from toss to trophy to racquet drop before hitting.

I would like to hear the opinion of a specialist in pinpoint serve. I believe this is all great explanation of a platform serve. The two techniques are significantly different and I don't think you can use this lesson for the pinpoint serve. Sharapova served with great power but was loading her left foot(help from the right-but secondary), hip in the court, and following into the court: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2XapWigotWeabc

There is one more, used by players like Federer, Agassi or Davydenko: Taking the ball early, to take time from your opponent.
