Thanks for the info and the inspiration! I have three vintage Hermes’ scarves - all from the resale market and one that only cost $2.50! - that I don’t wear because I don’t love the colours or the designs. I am going to try this diy dip dye method with them later this week. Fingers crossed!

Fall/Winter 2024 has gotten off to a slow start for me. Slow, that is, until the latest from Natsuno Hidaka (“Mille Feuilles de Soie”) came up on the U.S. site yesterday. So far, I have seen this new double face in four colorways with the blue and rose being the lead contenders. My wife has one other by this artist (“Rose de Compas”), with “Lumineres de Paris” on a short list of possible secondary market purchases. Thanks Maya, for keeping me (and others) informed as this new season unveils.

Thank you for the lovely foreshadowing of what’s to come. I think this is my most anticipated season yet. I saw a preview of a Harnais de Coeur 140 cashmere and hope to get one when they are released. One little note: your music has always been joyful and authentic, but this sounds computer generated and soulless. I wound up turning it down and then missing some of your well researched comments. I hope you’ll return to real music. Thank you Maya!

Really lovely. Regina was my first Hermes scarf. I love it just as much today as the year I purchased it. I was in London in 2022 during the Queen's platinum jubilee. I didn't really get to see very much as the events were invitation only and, well, I was not invited! But it will always be a special memory as I admired her very much.

I hate to admit it, but I was introduced to Hermes through "dupe" scarves. I'm not really into designer fashion, and I'd never even heard of Hermes, but I decided a couple years ago to buy a few silk scarves on ebay to use in my hair as vintage head wraps. I ended up finding a seller with the most beautiful, unique, artistic scarves I could have ever imagined (that should have been a sign they weren't designed at some factory in China, but I was naive!) I was completely smitten with these wearable pieces of art, and over the next few months, I collected dozens of them, ordering a few more every time I got paid. They had no branding on them, but one day, while looking at silk scarves on google, I saw a scarf I recognized- and this time it was from an authentic Hermes retailer, and I realized I'd unknowingly been buying counterfeits all this time! I've since saved and bought a vintage authentic Hermes scarf and the quality difference is undeniable, but I still use and enjoy all my "dupes," since it's far too late to get my money back.

I really look forward to these now! Your close-ups highlight the beauty and weight of the silk twill. The trouble with Hermes scarves is that are so many really special ones! The art and saturated color make it difficult for me to stop collecting even though I certainly do not need more. While I initially rejected the concept of baggages a main, the border is fun, the color-ways exquisite, and it looks just stunning folded/worn. Thank you for this preview!

I have not had good luck buying preloved scarves. Both were shown as authentic, yet upon examination I quickly proved they were fake. Thankfully, I was able to return them as they were priced as real Hermes scarves. Lesson learned. I’ll stick with the boutiques, and may even try the online store. Thanks as always for your informative videos!

Good for you, glad you were able to suss them out and return. Buying direct from H is certainly the safest route. Thanks for sharing!

Yep, as soon as you buy your first Hermes scarf you'll know them by feel. Combo of thinkness and weight. I'm the one who puts the dupes on my dog. She's a Cavalier King Charles so she has an image to uphold yet she still enjoys a good roll in the mud. 😂 One way to tell is also take a scarf ring that fits a real Hermes scarf and put the questionable scarf into it. The ring will fall off the fake one cause it's not thick enough. 😂
@cranleyplaceАй бұрын
Ah, yes, thanks for reminding me, Kelsie! Your dog is no doubt one of the best accessorized on the block! Great tip about the scarf ring, I will have to try that. Thanks for your comments!

Thanks for this video. I have wanted to buy a Hermes scarf for some time but we don’t have a Hermes store here. I started to get one on vacation in Palm Beach last month but the staff has such a bad reputation for rudeness that I changed my mind. I didn’t want to ruin my vacation with a bad experience. So I was considering eBay. Now I’ll just stick with Hermes online.
@kelsie_adamsАй бұрын
Check the real real. They are 2nd hand but verified to be real and I've bought an Hermes scarf there and was impressed.
@cranleyplaceАй бұрын
@nikkil764 Shame you weren’t able to add to your vacation with a positive experience at the local H store there. It is possible to find authentic preloved on sites like eBay, but if it’s your first or even if you’re in the early stages of collecting, I recommend staying with the boutiques or their website. It’s very tactile. Once you know what “real” feels like, it will help. Thanks for your input!

Customers have to be very vigilant on the second hand market, especially if a person never had a Hermès scarf. Many Ebay sellers sell counterfeit items but I don't know how to report them. I guess you can report a seller once you purchased an item only. Thank you Maya for this video! 🥰
@cranleyplaceАй бұрын
So true, personally I wouldn’t suggest anyone to buy their first one preloved. Here’s a link to report suspect listings on eBay: www.ebay.com/help/policies/default/report-item-listing?id=4739 Thanks for your comments!
@frenchstyle7038Ай бұрын
@@cranleyplace Thank you so much! I will keep that information. That is an excellent suggestion. Once you know what a real Hermès looks like and feels like, you are less likely to be duped.

Hello, are you familiar with scarves with embellishments or beads? My SA sent me a photo of one and I really like it, but I haven't seen these in person and am wondering whether the embellishments would catch or be scratchy. It's a 140.
@cranleyplaceАй бұрын
They are lovely to look at, but tbh I’ve always been concerned about the practicality. I don’t own any, but have heard that the beads snag the fabric. So you have to be careful about knotting them or just not care about the damage. Thanks for the question!

Hi Maya, Do you tend to collect by designer, theme, or the design itself? Forgive me if I do not contradict myself by providing a direct answer to your weekly Community Question. Each week the questions launch me into extended internal discussions that most often, and for good reason, remain hidden from view. The question for this week reminded me of an exercise the renowned art critic Peter Schjeldahl undertook imagining himself marooned with access to only one piece of art. His choice: a dull grayish modified photo of a misshapen spider web by Vija Celmins. Huh? .... Huh. So …. I undertook a similar effort, limited - as Ms. Celmins might propose - to the physical reality of my wife’s scarf collection. The result: “Noel au 24 Faubourg” (Noir) by Dimitri Rybaltchenko. Why? Many explanations could be advanced. The one that comes closest to honesty for me is to focus on the shoppers on the snow-covered sidewalk next to the Hermes flagship store. Some might see the shoppers as an elite example of consumerism. A less caustic but somewhat sterile view could find evidence of reciprocal altruism. For me: the shoppers bundled against the cold are reminders of many frostbitten, though joyful, journeys in search of just the right gift for JAK - an act of love.
