I totally agree with you about Jackson. He wasn't covering for her, he never really communicated to her what he needed until after she came back from the war zone and he resented the fact that she had come back a more mature and stronger woman. Like you said he wanted the broken April to make himself feel better about "fixing her" . He didn't acknowledge that she went against her fundamental beliefs to comply with Jackson's wishes to terminate the pregnancy. April was dealing with crushing emotions of guilt, fear, pain alongside the usual physiological and emotional emptiness that accompanies a pregnancy that ends before the fetus is fully developed and matured in utero. April loved Samuel from the moment she knew she was pregnant but somehow in the back of her mind she was always afraid because she and Jackson had already argued about having a child with a medical condition before she told him she was pregnant.

Yes! And everyone just choose to forget she asked him to go with her by second time and he said no (ok, he went until the airport, but late and didn’t fight to try get to her). She had to deal with her own choice to interrupt the pregnancy and it hurts her so much (we can see when she yelled with her mom and Jackson in how much pain, loneliness and confusion she was), plus losing Samuel. She wasn’t even close to be good enough to help him or anyone (april always got worst side of almost the whole cast and even with it defended them and tried to make things better to them) and he just kicked her off because of it.
