Throat singing. It’s a technique that makes your voice sound an octave lower than you’re singing. I figured it out after watching a few KZbin tutorials, practicing a lil bit over a couple weeks, then messing around in the car for an hour
@Napalmthrower
@Napalmthrower 13 күн бұрын
@@Ryguypie17 Important to note that not all methods of throat singing "lower" your voice in this way. Throat singing is a very broad term which just means singing using only your throat and mouth instead of mouth and nose. There are many different ways that it is done.

@@marvinthemaniac7698 It's one of several different styles of tuvan throat singing. I'm not sure why the above reply said it isn't singing? It certainly is, and it's certainly throat singing. I imagine a tibetan might argue that this specific use-case isn't tuvan, but there's plenty of historical evidence to suggest that the technique originates from the region of the world we now associate with modern tuvan/mongolian/siberian populations. It likely made its way south thanks to cultural osmosis and various expansionist and colonial operations by the various different cultures and peoples that exist in the relevant regions of Asia over various different periods in history.

The incredibly deep throat singing strikes many people, me included, as - I'll be honest - a bit creepy and sinister, but the whistling over the top (which isn't traditional and which I've never heard before) really lifts it.
@eeshankaushal2357
@eeshankaushal2357 4 ай бұрын
I understand what you mean. I used to feel the same way. However, listening to this from a modern context, considering this as ‘music’ and that too listening to it through electronic devices is probably leading us to that experience. The human voice in this incredibly low register has an impact on one’s body and mind, which goes beyond pleasant musicality. If one were to sit in front of those highly accomplished monks in that beautifully reverberating meditation hall, one would feel their chanting and the vibrations on one’s skin. It makes one acutely aware of the present moment. It would drive the focus of your mind from outward to inward. It’s a truly liberating experience.

@@eeshankaushal2357I 100% agree, as someone who has learned this style of subharmonics (not nearly to the mastery of these monks but a fairly intermediate level) I can tell you that even in a non chanting/spiritual context it still can silence a room and make people snap out of whatever just to wonder what the f they just heard

Hi, there. Sadly the creepy and sinister aspect was planted in the Human Psyche by horror films like the Exorcist, where it has been used (read: Abused) by Hollywood producers etc. I am the westerner on the right and I'm the one singing the higher, flute-like Overtones, which the Lamas do not learn. In fact, the DEEP VOICE is considered by the Lamas as the Voice of the Vanquisher or Destroyer of Death, rather than anything sinister. And it is used to mask the clarity of the Sacred Texts to make them opaque to the uninitiated

It's also an expression of one of the experiences one has under deep states of trance/meditation. At the core is an all consuming oneness. Beautiful, but infinitely powerful. It's the feeling of being on a vast mountain in the wilderness. Or watching the sun set over the aeons old ocean.

When you reach certain levels of meditation you start to feel and ear some vibrations. The chant (sound/vibration) that they are chanting is the sound 'OHM', this sound is associated to the divine vibration (god), so, when they chant that same sound, they are trying to tap into that divine dimension. You also can see that same vibration on some mandala patterns that you normally found on Buddhism temples
