Incredible ✨️ But sad see our railway Zero evolvement over the years except the rolling stock

In Sri Lanka, we had a very rich railway history built up since mid 1800s, nothing we have preserved for the future! As I have heard we have had very rare steam locomotives, all have gone for cheap scrap iron, very sad and angry. Thank you so much for sharing this historical video records.

We used to call this "RAIL BUS", one of the memorable railway vehicle, don't know where it has got disappeared! - When it comes to rail way, Sri Lanka had an iconic history!!! all that is gone today, politicos sold all the old trains etc for scrap iron! - In deed, thank you so much for sharing this video, it's really a nostalgic feeling.

I used to travel by narrow gauge train powered by a steam locomotive in and around 1969 from Udahamulla to Baseline road. Those days Wesley College Colombo used to have a montessori and my mother took me there by train. I remember there was also one brown colour diesel locomotive and later the railway department put a blue colour Kawasaki locomotive on the narrow gauge to Opnayake. Nugegoda station had 3 lines, the spare line close to Sunday Fair hill side was used to park goods wagons. As I was crazy on trains on those days (even now) my mother and I went on train to Eheliyagoda fron Nugegoda on a joy ride. Eheliyagoda used to have a beautiful station.

I remember the steam engine from my school days. 1994 was a transition period from steam to diesel, atleast in my hometown, eastern India. We used to be careful from the boiling water, which used to overflow from boiler through a pipe and used to leave a trail of dead grass, adjacent to each tracks.

I have just realised. The narrow gauge steam locomotive is CFR 764.052, which suprisingly is running excursion trains in Sovata. The only difference is that she has a similar whistle to the ones used on the CFR 764.200 class locomotives.

When i was a kid we used to travel from Delhi to Beas to our native place every year. In those early 90's my parents always tried to sit as far as they can sit from the engine so that smoke dosent effect them much. In those days people who get seat in first boggie after engine do get affected by the engine smoke. Golden days I will never forger till i live. ❤
