That layout is a beauty. Really well done. Loved seeing the "Melbourne Express" as we used to call The Overlander. As others have noted the weathering is great. So many layouts look great then the center pieces - the trains - come past and they look like they're new in the box and plasticky as. Not so here - your trains and beautifully weathered.

There was an episode that was never completed called "The Missing Coach" which originated from two small stories from the book by Rev W Awdry, "THE Twin Engines," book of Donald and Douglas, called "Hullo Twins" & "The Missing Coach." Those two shots SIR Topham looking at Douglas scornfully and the other with his vack turned I believe came from this unfinished episode.

@@SharkytheGunzel Yes. I believe they are the same locos as the famous 'Lady Norrie' loco set which hauled the Overland in the 1960s? I live in Adelaide but hoping to move back to Melb and start a layout with a mix of VR, V/line, NR & ANR lead trains. And I'd love to secure one of the VR DERM's. Cheers.

Try and find a more realistic model rail layout anywhere in the world to compare to this! One question though; why isn't the Overland stopping at Beaufort? Lol 😉

Is this the maintenance hauler horn? I joined rails unlimited and listened to any horn of a train with a p5-like horn. The maintenance hauler’s horn is the closest match, the maintenance hauler’s horn is likely sped up.

Great work and so perfect but missing the telegraph poles… or were these not used for signal transmission on this section of line? I guess they might also unnecessarily obstruct the viewing angles? It might also be hard to model them…was just curious if any had actually done that before.
