Love your videos. I had Zeon Zoysia put down in my backyard end of July and many parts it's still not getting roots down into the soil (Dallas area clay). It looks healthy for now. Any thoughts on how to get it rooted before cold weather gets here?
@BermudaBrianКүн бұрын
LATE in the year to try to get it rooted Here in GA, we have about 2-3 weeks b4 temps hit 70's consistently and also decreased sunlight. You could try something to push up upward and downward growth. NPK. N= up, P = down, K= all around round. So look for a Fert high in N and P

Zoysia Brian Out!!!!
@nealwhite147425 күн бұрын
I'm on my second season with Zeon Zoysia. Here's my two cents: 1: scalped it in late April when it started greening up. 2: 16-4-8 fert in May, June and July. 3: Sprayed Acelepryn in May (good for 6 months with zero pest damage so far), 4: liquid fungicide combo of Azoxy/Prop in May with zero fungus so far this year. That's what I've done and it's worked in my lawn. Zeon also needs sunlight but not as much as Bermuda from what I've read. I'll put down a pre-emergent later this month.

I live in NE GA, got around 12k of tifway 419 (contractor's special lol) that I keep at 0.5". One thing I've had success with the last couple of seasons is scalping it back down to just about the dirt at the start of August, in my case it helps me thin it out some and take out all the legs that creep up on me throughout the season. Also I'm using 1/2# nitrogen per 1k square feet per month (applied with backpack sprayer), I haven't noticed a color loss or any other issues, it's helped a ton with slowing it down so it doesn't grow so out of control and get leggy on me. It takes about 2 weeks to come back to normal, and the overall appearance and turf quality is the best of the season after the scalp. I like to have a kinda end of season push and finish strong. No clue if it would work with your setup and program, but for me it's helped a good amount.
@BermudaBrian28 күн бұрын
That's great info. I'd love to take it down again b4 at the end of the season, but just don't know if I have it in me. What mower are you using?
@Charlie-73627 күн бұрын
@@BermudaBrian I'm using a 2015 Jacobsen GK526a. It needed a little work when I got it, but it's been a champ. It seems to be easier to find Jake mowers at reasonable prices than Toro or JD, I think because of name recognition.

I'm starting to like your channel. Keep up the good work. Just my thoughts on spraying your lawnmower with fungicide. In theory, it seems logical, but I think it would depend on what type of fungicide you use. If it is a contact fungicide, then I suppose that would work. However, most fungicides are systemic, which means the plant has to take it up and then translocate throughout the plant before it can be effective on fungus. This is my understanding of how fungicide works. I'm only mentioning this to you because I know how expensive fungicide is. I'm pretty sure soap and water would be just fine. But if you're really paranoid about it, you can always scrub it down with clorox. Again, I love your videos, and I don't want this to seem like I'm throwing shade. I'm just trying to help out if I can.😊

Curative rate of Azoxy/Prop will cure it. Have you checked to see if it's army worm or grubs? Seem to remember you having a grub problem in your backyard.
