Yep, afraid to hire vets but they will fly a flag on Memorial Day and put a “Support the troops” sticker in their retail window, and post some BS Facebook post stating they support vets.

I was in oif 1. Several deployments. My family don't even talk to me. Nobody gives a vet the benefit of the doubt. Its hard to watch your friends die and be regular again. Sometimes I wish I could just die to spare the shame of loved ones seeing me differently. I sit alone all day afraid to leave home and wonder was needing a check to live worth it. I'll do everything I have to so my children don't have to go into the army. Then I come home and find out that cause I'm black cops can just gun me down. So in Iraq my enemy I had to give more respect. If I shot an Iraqi without first identifying a weapon I'd be in jail. Period. So I have rules of engagement but cops do not and I can come home and take the uniform off and be mistook as a cops enemy and be shot. Some bs

@Sawyer Colwell with the numbers that emerge, and civilian deaths in the hundreds of thousands, being treated as collateral. It reflects an indifference and lack of empathy more than anything. You’d think you’d have less civilian casualty in an operation where the aim is to save civilians from a dictator. Those numbers are more indicative of a super power, that wishes to dominate a region above all else. what if the shoot first think later conditioning that troops go through, has resulted in these deaths?

Mental shocks can be felt early in life. Even in infancy. The damage is traumatic & can cause life long stress. Here’s a poem with an implied cure. Poem's title is “The New One’s Center Had Moved.” The new one’s center had moved. The infant’s place of anchor had gone. Neither the boy nor young man knew. Their lives were marked as well. All lost to empty time of living, Where wisdom & books have no meaning. They each looked to the man to be. “Grow up,” The man yelled. “Look out for yourself.” They all wanted a way back, Back to the place of beginning. They asked a fix from him. “Between the rising & setting sun,” He exclaimed, “Go to the beginning there. Breath out the flames which burn your heart. There your body & voice of being can be found. A life of quiet, joy & peace.” Hurry - The old man is coming!

My grandfather was one of the guards that had to transport this man and many others. He showed me this and it made me think about how it must have felt to be in that situation. I'm glad that man is dead though. My grandfather hated all the cameras that were there.

Putting on blinders to do your job..cookie cutting and boxing memories and bad feelings in the depths of your mind..thinking they are tucked away neatly and pretty much trying to forget them..just to have them pop up when least expected to bite you in the ass...ptsd...to manage the emotional rollercoaster ride is the mission after all the other missions are military distant... Im not sure if that sounds like a coherent thought to anyone else...but is how i describe it

@@sonofkemet6955 your comment is just frustrating. No one condones killing innocent civilians except maybe politicians Funny how it's always the people that weren't even there think they no what happened. Only bad guys are the ones who we went after when I was over there. I can't speak for other people. And we soldiers didn't start the war, so the fact you blame us is hilarious. But when I was there the locals wanted are help removing the people terrorizing their own people. Doesn't matter if I thought we should be there or not, it was my job and I do my job. And by the way my job didn't require killing any civilians. Engage only when someone engaged you.
