Brad Pitt was just beautiful in this film. One of my favorite films.

For me, the lesson of this story is different; it's about the sexism of the audience. They wouldn't buy a girl choosing friendship over romance, but in the gender-swapped remake, Some Kind Of Wonderful, the audience would accept it. If the original ending had been retained, I don't think it would necessarily have meant her forsaking her true love, nor would the long term result necessarily have been for her to stay romantically with Duckie. Imagine a thought experiment: a gender-swapped remake of Who's Got Mail. (I know that You've Got Mail is already a remake of The Shop Around the Corner, which itself is a remake of the Hungarian play Parfumerie; that's not the point here.) In our remake, HER mega-business crushes HIS little shop that is his life's work, but we're supposed to accept it as a happy ending because they find true love together. That movie would never get made because the audience would not accept that ending; the soul-crushing destruction of his work would outweigh romance.

Antonio Banderas is a great actor, but he was 100% miscast as Armand. Armand in the books is a child with flowing red hair.

I was watching an episode of this on Netflix season 1 episode 9. It's about a kid who's parents put him in a religious de gay camp. They raped him and fed them dog food and cattle food. His father disowned him when he got out because they said he didn't try to become straight. Now I'm not against religion I feel it serves a purpose for those who believe, I myself have never had a feeling that I needed to go to a church after seeing all the damage they do especially down south where I lived it was BAD. I'm not saying all religious groups are like this most are not, but it gives an open door to this kind of behavior when you are in a group that you feel obligated to follow. Some of them are just outright cult's that are run by insane people and have nothing to do with God. I'm not gay but I don't think anyone who is should be treated any different than anyone else. I don't think they deserve special treatment or status for their sexual preference, but they should be afforded protection just like the rest of us and every opportunity to live and thrive like anyone else also. The in your face gay people make it hard for the rest of them who just want to live a normal life. Now I totally get that they need to have any sort of oppression stopped because they are gay but they don't deserve all of the special attention they seem to get over straight people like going into a bathroom marked for a certain sex that they just aren't, no matter if they feel like they are or not and dress and act the part. Biology is the end all of what sex you are period, you can ACT like you are the opposite sex , you can even get a sex change operation but you are still not the person you thought you would be afterward, you are the SAME consciousness that occupied your brain before the operation and you will not be able to function as that sex you changed to the way that a person born that sex will. It's just the truth. I personally believe that it is a mental condition we haven't figured out yet but we are getting more and more advanced with time and hopefully no one in the future will have to feel uncomfortable with their own sexual assignment at birth and everyone will feel fine being what they really are. This is in no way meant to bash or discredit Gay people I love everyone and I am not religious. I just want people not to suffer and I believe that changing your sex is a mistake you will regret later in life and if you can just be comfortable being who you are then we are starting in the right direction. Society shouldn't ever be a reason for a person to alter their being to please other people or get out of a situation that is unfair.

I get it, but it would have given hope to the awkward guys of the 80's who never got the girl if they had gone with the original ending.

As a girl and growing up in the late 90s and 00s while being the awkward genderbent version of Duckie, yeah I totally agree with you there. There's a reason so many fawn over Duckie today and not... what was the other guys name?

If they actually stuck with the original ending, it still would’ve been a classic. Rather if it would’ve been a classic for 30 plus years or if it would’ve been considered a classic now after so long, it still would’ve been a great classic because all those teen girls who saw the original ending during the screen test, they would’ve thought after a few decades that it actually is a good ending because it’s much more realistic and would’ve had the feel of a K-drama. If this was made today, it probably would end the way it was originally supposed to end just like how “Fatal Attraction” would’ve originally ended.

I recently saw a magazine with Brad Pitt as the main interview. The words on the page read "I thought I'd try satanism for a change and it seems to be working out for me". Research "Adrenachrome". Johnny Depp also a satanist, speaks of "Adrenachrome" in the movie "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Fans of vampire shows watch but do not see as the proponents of satanism are revealing their very secrets of longevity in their practices. Jude Law also revealed their practices in "Legend of the Sword" as he sacrificed his family members, those whom he loved for the dark power. The Anne Rice novels suggest the vampires are instilled with the power handed down through possession of spirits inherited from Akasha, but the truth is each of them are possessed directly when they make the deal. All Hollywood is saturated with these practices. One only has to study each successful actor and actress to see the tragedy that befalls their family members in exchange for power and success. I regret the loss of ignorance as I truly enjoyed the performances of Cruise, Pitt and Dunsten among many others in these films.

I’m Kirstin Dunst’s age and I was so jealous of her being in this role acting alongside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt at their peak. Such a good movie, no other vampire movie other than Bram Stoker’s Dracula, another great 90s vampire movie, comes close but this movie still tops it. Wasn’t a fan of Christian Slater in it, too bad River Phoenix passed away or he would have been in the role.
