Brilliant! The Black stopped working after replacing the cartridges and the Black was out a little out of date. However, despite this being a slightly fiddly procedure and taking me 3 attempts to get completely clear printing, it is now working. I also should have read points 1 to 9, particularly number 7, before I started, but I got there. Many thanks, Marcin. Thumbs up from me! 👍

It worked.... but you have to do it slow enough...

I tried a can of mineral spirits from the hardware store and got exactly the same results as you. I see some other people use mineral spirits successfully. Must be different formulations of it.

9 years on this is still helping ppl thank you.. although nobody do what i did and turn it on as the paper towl is in it 🙈 it began to spin and get caught in it 🤣 I couldn't figure out how to move the ink cartilage without turning it on.. I salvage it and got it back out and working again 😅

is it safe for daily use i mean the gasoline explosive

Here in South América we used Disan, a parafine like solvent. Since I can remember at the end of the 60's this was used and I use it today. It behaves the same as Zippo or Ronson fluid and is much cheaper.

Great suggestion and video. Used a bit of white vinegar mixed with water and had to use the Clean Printhead function twice afterwards but it definitely worked and now prints black ink again.

I have found that 8 rounds of 30-06 does the job fairly well.

This printer is a workhorse. We have saved SO much money kzbin.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 . I've only filled the ink tanks once and have printed thousands of pages. The color is a little dull, but I will take the cost savings any day. It has trouble feeding envelopes, but other than that, I can't recommend it enough. I'm super super pleased with this printer and recommend it to all my friends.

Can this be used as a fuel on an alcohol stove for Camping? Like a trangia?

99% isopropyl alcohol is my favorite fuel for zippos. Have to fill it every morning but I don’t care it’s a fun process for me. It burns incredibly clean. Alcohols are some of the cleanest burning fuels in existence. Much better for your smoking health

I stripped my HP 5520 printer , When I reassembled it the ink carriage moves about 3"" then slams back to start .

My half inch ratchet has only started to fall apart after 5 years, and I have beat it with a hammer and used it as a hammer, thinking about ordering another full set as I've lost a few pieces of my kit, I'd give the kit a good 7/10 imho

I am struggling to believe this is alcohol burning. alcohol burns with a delicate clear flame, this is the opposite, looks more like a hydrocarbon flame.

Gasoline is quite a bit more volatile and flammable than "lighter fuel", so it lights up quick er. If you're having trouble lighting your zippo in colder or humid weather you can try using gasoline. Just shorten the wick a bit and it'll work very well as a cheaper alternative. The down side is it's less safe and evaporates faster so your lighter will require more frequent refills as well as wick/flint replacements.

This is really useful info because I am getting nowhere trying to use printer Tools even though I just bought new cartridges and it shows I have ink in all cartridges.

Lighters fluid is pretty much white gas which is used in camping and hiking stoves,heaters, and lantern. For going cheap or survival gasoline is a good backup resource.

After buying new cartridges. Then had missing sections when printing black...was ready to launch the printer out of the window 😡 but fortunately this worked a treat 👍. Thank you!
