I am a current freshman in college and am switching my major to hospitality management. I found a girl who goes to my school and she actually did the dcp for a whole year for her 500 hour preinternhip and now I'm really interested. I have thought about doing it since freshman year of highschool, and think it could be a really great experience for me. However, if I am being completely transparent and honest, I have never really had a job and so I don't really have experience to talk about in interviews. I have only ever done baby sitting, dog sitting, and working in a church nursery but other than that I haven't had a real job lol. But i don't want that to stop me from applying for it. Any advice? Also, would you reccomend taking classes while doing the dcp so you don't fall too behind in school, or is it better to take a whole semester off?

What type of entertainment roles ? Like do you have to look like the characters or would be you background dancing ?

i am considering applying to the DCP and the biggest thing that is putting me off of it is the male-female ratio 😭

Rewatching this video because it's one of the first advice videos I saw after I got accepted, and I think it's hilarious that you mention custodial being the "worst" role so many people dread. I just got my role as custodial in Hollywood Studios for my program, and I'm not joking when I say I cried happy tears. It was a role I actually really wanted for many reasons (independence, ability to pick up at any location on property, high guest interaction, etc.), and it shocks me that so many people think it's a "bad" role! I've seen lots of people complain about food and beverage, too.

I wish more vloggers would share the good and the bad! Yes, some parts of working there *are* 10/10 and aesthetically pleasing, which is what people tend to show, but I think that only seeing those parts make a lot of people go with the expectation that it's going to be like being on vacation. I think it's way better to go in expecting that you're going to be working insane hours, that you're going to feel lost and confused at first, and that you're going to have lots of very hard days, but that it's worth it and you're going to grow a LOT as a person.

Something important to remember is that if you're actually looking for a specific role, you can always apply to Disney for that specific role outside of the college program. The college program is not be all and end all of Disney recruitment

I was SUPER anxious about the sick time and point system, this made me feel so much better. Thank you! At my work I rarely call out once a month, if that. It feels much more doable now ❤️
@crystalisawesome Жыл бұрын
If this is something you're super worried about, I'd suggest getting to know your leaders early on. There's a surprising amount of wiggle room with points if you just talk to them. It's never a guarantee, obviously, but an honest conversation like "I left for work an hour early and I got a flat tire on the way here, is there any way you could possibly adjust my schedule so I don't get the half point for being late? I will totally stay late tonight or whenever you need to make up for it" can go a long way. They generally don't want to lose a great cast member and be short until they get someone new any more than you want to get termed.

How did your experience reflect on your work?😊 I’m debating if this would be a good role for me. I want to work for Disney-affiliated companies like ABC, ESPN, etc. I’m currently a producer in Oregon. Any advice would help? 😊

as of now you can’t put a preference on where you’d want to work on property. disney casting just kinda puts people where they need them, applicants don’t get much of a say in the role i’m afraid..

As someone who did the program literally 10 years ago, I love that you said you made friends you would invite to your wedding. I was just a bridesmaid in my DCP roommate's wedding in January. I can't believe you only get to pick your immediate bedroom roommate now! My 8-person, 4-bedroom apartment in Chatham consisted of 7 girls I met and made friends with on a facebook group like at least a month before our program. I wish y'all could have that 😭

I totally get all the points you made. I Accepted my offer for 8/7 and yes it's been so hard finding a roommate who wants a 2x2, I want a 2x2 cause it's the cheaper option and I actually live in FL so I know how expensive things can get especially the food so I thought of at least saving on rent even it's only by like $20. But no one seems to want to get a 2x2, So many unrealistic people say they want a 4x4 and a parking decal, which are two of the hardest things to get. Since I live in FL, the $14 an hour isn't much when you live here but I am definitely going to save money and go on my dcp with at least enough money to pay my cards every month. About the roles, I was literally freaking out all of last night because I don't want custodial, but your video has calmed me down and I just hope that even though I didn't mention it in my interview I hope I get merchandise. But if I get custodial it's not the end of the world it's just like you said I have to be on Vitamins and medicine since I get sick every two weeks. Watching your video has helped me to think more positively, obviously, I won't have expectations going in cause I don't want to get disappointed or at least go into it with low expectations. The main thing I want to get out of this is to have a good time and make friends and come out of my shell more. Thank you for your video :)
