Well I thought the last video I watched was helpful, getting down on it with a wire pet brush, it made it a lot better but I’m definitely going to get my husband to try this. This seems so much easier lol thanks!

This is fantastic!!!! I have a short term rental property that has short pile shag wall to wall carpet in it that is exactly the same as what is in the video. You are absolutely correct that the problem isn't matting down it is detangling. If you get down on your knees and really look closely at this kind of carpet you can see that this is the problem. Couple of things I would add. First, use either a paint compressor or use an oil filter on your compressor lines. Paint compressors are oilless. Pancake compressors that you use for nail guns and the like are not and in fact you need to run some oil in those lines to keep the tool from wearing out. Second, steam clean right after fixing the carpet.

When I detail auto carpet I vacuum/brush and blow out all the debris before I use my extractor, although I didn’t extract on this rug. I didn’t even think about it to be honest.

The 2007 RX350 rear differential location is around there but the drain and fill nuts are bit harder to find. It takes ONE quart of genuine Toyota 75W-85 GL-5 oil with slippage additive.

Thanks for the video, dead easy job to do, I have changed both transaxles at 105,000 miles. Old fluid fairly clean, no metallic sludge on the magnetic drain plugs. I bought 8 litres of Mannol Toyota/Lexus OEM oil and have, I guess, about 2 litres left. It comes in 4 litre cans. (1 US Qt= 0.946 litres.)

Is there a possibility of gears slipping after oil change? I presume that the transfer case has an electric motor and several sets of planetary gears.

Hi - I just had the CVT fluid changed in my RX400h. I didn’t realise the rear needed changing too. The vehicle has 112k miles. I should probably get the rear done too then?! Thanks 😬
@MrKeenan3325
@MrKeenan3325 4 жыл бұрын
This car had 180k when I bought it. I don’t think anyone had done it. The front was really dirty and the rear was surprisingly alright. Toyota says it’s a “lifetime” fluid but not really. I’d check your maintenance schedule. Never hurts to do it.
@jameslucop4503
@jameslucop4503 4 жыл бұрын
Keenan Slagel thank you very much! I’ve heard this a few times now - that the rear fluid is usually alright, lasts longer than the front. My mechanic today told me that the CVT fluid was not too bad (112k) - but I feel loads better for getting it done. I might have the rear done the next time the car is in, so no emergencies right now. I don’t believe the ‘lifetime’ claim either. I think they mean ‘lifetime of the transmission’ = 100k / 10 years. For the low cost, it’s good preventative maintenance. Cheers dude 👍😬
