I own an Antares 11 and I have some plusses and minuses to report. It is very easy to use and the joystick function makes docking a breeze. It handles very well in calm and rough seas - had it out in 6' swell and it was fine. Great speed with twin merc 300's. Great vessel for fun on Narragansett Bay environs. That said, there are some real flaws. First and most inmportantly, quality is not like the old Beneteaus. The company moved production to Poland and the quality is shaky. Leaky overhead, misaligned cabinets, A/C works great in cooler weather but completely fails to keep up with hotter temps (we're in RI which isn't exactly 'hot weather'). Even the toilet seat was dielivered in the wrong size. One design flaw is that the helm is very hot in warm weather - zero wind flow and no windows to allow wind flow. BTW - it is not exactly cheap either. Also, Beneteau completely eliminated ANY direct contact and all complaints/concerns must go through the dealer. It is impossible to complain about a bad dealer to Beneteau HQ

It can be sailed by one skilled sailer, having more hands for dock and sail handling is advised. The boat has crew cabins for 4 crew.

I like the boat. Way overpriced for what you get. If it was updated I could see $400, maybe. As it sits, it needs $150K just to bring it up to speed to go blue water cruising. Too bad really.

That is absolutely the nicest passport 40 I've ever seen. I'm looking at one in Seattle now that's pretty nice not as nice as this one the only problem the motor has 6 thousand hours and I'm a little bit leery of that. So I'm looking into the cost to repower the boat if I can get it cheap enough.

I think that a tender garage is over rated on a yacht this size. Basically you are storing air. Use davits and free up the space for living.

.. yeah.. .you have a point when calculating price per cubic cubic foot of living space... but it certainly does give a cleaner line to have the tender tucked away. But that garage can certainly pack away a bunch of clutter... especially if you dive... or the wife's suitcases.
