The VYA is the best in that category. Yes it has the ROTO stop which means you can disengage the blades without stopping the engine. I love that in the sense that if for whatever reason I need to stop the lawnmower to remove a stone or a piece of wood etc i don’t have to do a cold restart.

@maggarlion Just drive past the piece of wood, and toss it away with your free hand. And even if you shut the machine off to do it, it won't be a cold start.

Just did mine 2 days ago. Didn't look as bad as this one. I also wanted top clean the exhaust port, but I couldn't get the bolts loosened. Guess I needed someone to hold the thing steady while I tried both hands on the screw driver. (Or -I could have tried using my portable work bench - but not sure if the grips would have held it steady). Sprayed a lubricant with penetrating properties. No go. But it did dissolve a lot of the carbon on the muffler and behind the screen. Wiped it down. Used a new spark arrester. Started it up. Didn't let it run too long - as that spray is flammable. It's had a couple of days to evaporate. Let's hope I don't torch myself next time I use it.😵‍💫

My Echo SRM 225 runs like a BEAST for about 15 minutes and then boggs right out... if I let it sit for about 20min I can repeat the process however it always seems to "choke" out. It'll restart immediately but the moment I hit anywhere near half throttle it starts to choke even though it ran perfectly normal up till then... lower mid-range seem to function but the moment you get anywhere near the high end of the throttle it just drowns once it's good and hot I've replaced the fuel delivery system, cleaned the carburetor, changed the spark plug and kept her topped off with fuel plus of course always kept a nice clean air filter... I build gas RC cars, ride Motor Cross Bikes and have Decades of experience maintaining chainsaws, lawn mowers and all types of gas powered equipment yet I've never seen anything quite like this... I guess the next thing I'm going to try is to completely swap out with a new carburetor? I bought her new and never had a problem for about 7 years of residential use🤔

I have the SRM-250E which i cant find one video on youtube about it!! Very old but runs great. Similar filter set up to yours where i did 2 things. I put a oiled sponge pad under the flat plastic filter where the air is inlet in to catch almost all very fine airborne grit the main wouldnt get and i moved the choke pivot up and reversed it in that the choke position was now up and RUN was down, Reason was if RUN was in the up position, the natural vibration could send the level downwards choking off the machine. All metal and still 130 lbs and just made well with Pro linkage chain for harness and got it $10 from recyclers and just serviced everything on it , carb, greasing , gaskets and clean the cooling fins and check bearings around clutch. all great. Echo and Stihl old ones are just high quality.

When checking oil in a Honda mower do not screw the dip stick in to check oil. Also after several hours of use change the oil again for motor break in. Hopefully you did not damage your motor for not reading the instructions.

Mr lawn southern star, it would appear you were checking the oil dip stick incorrectly. You were in fact supposed check oil with out spinning dip tube stick, rather just letting it lie on the threaded top as indicated by manufactuer. Just saying sir Or Mr lawn star as you would prefer

@@richcityrepresentative8805 I contacted echo. So how they explained it to me is two stroke engines our happiest when they're running at full RPM. If you're normally running it at half then that's why it doesn't fully burn the oil. I took mine apart and cleaned up the oil that spilled out and ever since then I've been running it at full throttle most of the time and I'm not getting hardly any.

thanks for reviewing this model HRN216VKA..i'm buying this today at Lowe's, price went up to $549.00. So sad Lowes and Home Depot stop selling the HRX 217 model, i heard it was the Mercedes (top of the line) of all Lawn mowers. Oh well, I will take the best available lawn mower out there, as longs as its Honda model.

Don't buy Honda. We bought a Honda mower and 4 months later the carburetor was bad. Honda won't stand by their products. They claim, after 10 uses, replacing a carburetor is normal wear and tear.

May I suggest to you. That if you are having that much wear on your ties go find a Junk bicycle or go buy a bike tire and cut it into strips, you can glue and put a few screw into it. Look up videos on (power wheels rubber tread) it will give you more grip and last longer than the mower.
